Keith Duffy back on Coronation Street - Yay or Nay?
Last year, Keith Duffy, who played Ciaran McCarthy in Coronation Street, told Inside Soap magazine in an interview that he'd love to return to the part of Ciaran in Corrie.
You can read the full interview here.
Keith was in Corrie on and off for more than 10 years as Ciaran. He last appeared in 2011 and Keith has very fond memories of being in the show.
Back then, in that interview Keith said: "I was very lucky in the early days. I was working with the likes of Johnny Briggs (Mike Baldwin) and John Savident (Fred Elliot) - the characters I'd grown up watching on TV. To have scenes with them was brilliant. And I made a lot of friends here was well. Chris Gascoyne (Peter Barlow) is still one of my best mates."
Keith also revealed that Corrie was "...definitely something I'd do again. I enjoyed my time there, and they're a great bunch of people to work with."
And just this week, he's repeated his desire to return to the show. Keith was interviewed on ITV's Lorraine this week and when asked if he would ever return to Corrie, he said: "Yeah, absolutely. Why not? Maybe in 2019 you might get Ciaran McCarthy back from the Caribbean and walking down the cobbles again."
Ooh, yes please. A big Yay from me.

YAY definitely! Loved Ciaran. BUT didn't he go out with Michelle? Maybe if he came back, she could get away from boring Robert.
No ! He got past his sell by. What Corrie needs is some more comedic touches instead of all the dark drama we have had lately.
YAY YAY YAY!
But please, don't put him back with Michelle!
No. I agree with JennyMac. We need some humour.
Yes Yes! A thousand times...YES!
But please...oh please...DO NOT PAIR WITH MICHELLE! She seems to bring and put everyone down and has turned into a old..bitter..sharp tongued..arms crossing harpy. He is bright and fun loving and should be paired with someone who compliments that.
Yes please!
Absolutely. How can anyone assume that there wouldn't be humour if Ciaran came back? Remember when he worked shirtless behind the Rovers bar? I think he would bring a wonderful comic touch to the street. Not to mention those blue eyes and that accent.
Would love to see Ciaran back. Agree - not with Michelle. As sympathetic as I am to all her troubles - I'm so tired of all the crying! We need someone new and fun for Ciaran.
Yes, for defo. He was one of my faves. I'd love to see him back. As far as I remember, he did have a sense of humour and brought a comedic element to the show. I also loved his friendship with Peter
You couldn't bring him back fast enough for me. I get weak at the knees just thinking about him! And Ciaran was often involved in comedic lines. Please, please, pretty please bring him back!
YES....please! Kate - you can sign him up today! He could work with his buddy Peter!! Yes, indeed!!
He and jez would be nice. Jez as someone else of course.
Yes please, he could steal Toyah from Peter and they could go away together. Although I did like him.
Yes, too bad Devs latest lady, (can't remember her name but she was fun), has left. That would have been a good pairing.
Yay!!!!!!! We fans in the U.S. say yes he would be a breath of fresh air to Coronation Street. And not hard on the eyes either......
Yeah I think him working with Peter behind the bar could be comedy gold. In fact it almost a plot hole that he hasn't rolled into town the second Peter bought the place.
Totally love the idea, Kieran and Peter behind the bar.
