Love it or loathe it, there's one thing you can't do and that's ignore it. I might well be talking about Coronation Street itself this week as it's divided opinion strongly with the Pat Phelan and dark storyline from last Friday night.
But no, it's not Corrie I'm waffling on about now.
It's Robert's hair, of course.
Why did it take Michelle so long to notice he'd gone grey last night in Corrie? The nation were shouting at the screen from their sofas. "What's happened to his hair?"
Clearly, Grecian 2000 (other hairdye products are available) isn't available in the big house.
But what do you make to Robert's new silver fox look? Yay or Nay?
I think I'd have to channel Les Dennis' Mavis on this one and say ... "I don't really know!"

Nay from me. It really ages him.
Yay from me. He looks his age; like a man in his forties. And I'm glad that both he and Michelle have given up their inky ghoulish hair.
I quite like it, it seems to suit him more than black hair. I guess Robert is supposed to be the same age as Tracy, 40, so as Tristan is 10 years older perhaps they insisted he dyed it when he first joined the cast, to look younger. This is a good time to return to being natural!
Michelle said something about seeing him every week, so presumably she had seen it before even if we didn't!
No! Definitely not. It looks awful, totally ages him and just how did he manage that in prison?
Yay from me. It’s quite distinguished. I didn’t know he was 50. He looks good for his age!
A hair cut maybe?
Yes! He's much more handsome without that awful hair dye job...
I like it, it does age him, but it looks more natural, and he’s lucky, he has lots of it.
Jeanie (anon):
I'm afraid I'm in the who gives a rat's a-- camp. The fact that the only excitement this character has generated is over the color of his hair shows just what an insipid nonentity he has been the last few years! Why do we lose great characters and actors like Rob Donovan and Andy and get this empty cypher instead?
But rant aside, I don't think the look or the term silver fox suits him. A true silver fox would look older, more distinguished, sophisticated, charming--someone like Lewis. Robert just looks like a thug who has gone prematurely gray. The color is older than his face and doesn't suit his persona..
I'm with Jeanie (anon). The only thing you can say is that at least the comments are about a man; if we were commenting about a woman, it might be seen as sexist! People look younger than their years these days. I've stopped being amazed when people tell me they're 70 plus. That being the case, this actor looks like a youthful late fifties gentleman. Good looking guy, shame about the character and the actor's talent.
No. It's horrible. He looks so old.
