Craig and Bethany romance on Coronation Street - Yay or Nay?

Young Craig fair broke my heart last night on Coronation Street.  Colson Smith continues to do a fabulous job playing Craig Tinker. Last night when Faye gave him a hug as he was spray-painting the walls, well, I think I had something in my eye.

But I don't think that Faye and Craig should be romantically linked. Faye is too young, by far.  And although Bethany is currently swooning over Gary Windass (who isn't?) she's too young for him

This, I then deduce, leaves us with only one possible conclusion. Bethany and Craig should get together.  Craig's had a girlfriend already - Caitlin Ryan, but that didn't last long.  And as for Bethany, I don't think we've seen her with a boyfriend yet, have we?

I'm all in favour of Craig and Bethany getting together, especially as it looks like Craig will need someone to talk to when he meets his dad - read about that here.  And Craig can help Bethany cope with the bullies.

So, Craig and Bethany romance - I vote Yay. What do you say?

Nay. As much as Craig is a nice boy, he would just be another thing for Bethany to get bullied about. Let's face it, he's not really "cool" is he. And he lisps.

I don't think Faye is that much younger than Craig,I think she's a year younger.
I am also disappointed that Craig's and Faye's friendship was dropped and since Faye was also bullied, she could've been a sympathetic friend to Bethany too if it weren't for the fact that Bethany made snide remarks about Faye being pregnant at 12 despite the fact her mother was the same age when she was pregnant.
I also wonder does every character on the Street have to be paired up with a member of the Platt family?

It's a nay from me. I don't think Bethany would ever see Craig in a romantic light. I would prefer them to have a strong, platonic friendship, something which seems to elude most of the other characters!

Nay. Though it would carry on the Corrie tradition of having average-looking and very average personality guys (Steve, Chesney, Tyrone, even Aidan etc.) pull really stunning women (Michelle, Katie, Marie, Eva).

Looks and personality aside, however, they don't seem to have much chemistry together and don't come across as believable even as friends, unlike Faye and Craig whose friendship seems very authentic. Bethany always seems slightly embarrassed and wary when she's around Craig--like she's thinking--"which girl from school is going to come around the corner and see me actually talking with this loser?!" Not to mention Craig is too nice and stable and good-hearted for someone like that!

Agree strongly with anon at 18.31; would love to see characters with strong, platonic friendships, this seems to be so difficult for writers to actually write about. Romantic pairings are a lazy way out. I wouldn't see Bethany and Craig having much in common either (not that that has prevented some unlikely pairings recently!)

I've loved the Craig/Bethany scenes of late. I've always known that Corrie could do something like this, and so I say Yay. This will hopefully be another development for both characters and bring out more of Bethany's kinder side, but also bring out a more grown-up side of Craig. He could even be more protective of her since he wants to be a policeman. Overall, I wouldn't mind either outcome, as long as they remain friends if Corrie decides not to make them a couple.

I agree with Anon 18.31 that it would be much better if they became best pals. Craig is a lovely sensible boy, so maybe he could help Bethany with her resits, though she could change schools or go to college to avoid the bullies.

Faye is actually 4 years younger than Craig - he just turned 18 last eрisode and she was 14 last March, so quite a big difference actually. Bethney and lauren should get it on - they say there's only a thin line between love and hate ;)

Nay. It is very unrealistic and would just annoy me. Craig is very calm and sensible. Bethany ,on the other hand, can get quite stroppy and I personally don't like the character. Don't get me wrong, I think Lucy Fallon is a great actress and has displayed real talent over the last few months. Craig is a brilliant character and definitely has a solid future on Corrie. I think a girl like Bethany, who is obviously trendy and very into her make-up, fashion and appearance is just too "typical" for Craig. Pair him with somebody who is on the same wavelength as him. Anon @18:29. Craig is 18 next week! Faye is my age (14).

nay, double nay, why does every couple on the street need to be romantically involved - what happened to best mates - get rid of all the jealousy, sneaky comments, etc, etc. We have enough of that on the street from all the other characters. But, as Lily mentioned "lazy writing" - easier to create "drama" with romantic couples than just a really great storyline with mates. Come on Corrie, we the viewers, deserve more than just the same old, same old. Ad nauseum. Give us some real positive storylines.

Nay! Craig would be scared stiff of Bethany as a girlfriend and she would soon get fed up with him. But I do see them as very good friends where they can dip in and out of each others' lives. There may be a story in there about Faye getting jealous.

nope..she's way too hot for him..

Nay, I'm in the friends camp. Could you imagine Bethany playing with Darrel? These are two kids who have no friends other than far too young Faye. He's artistic and an oddball, she's very pretty with a huge bullying problem. They both have less than ideal family situations. It's nice that they are neighbors who get along, esp since there is no one else their age on the Street.

BTW, I wish Faye were friends with Simon and/or Amy so she'd have someone to hang around with besides Anna and Tim.

Hell Nay. I also agree that they should be no more than friends. Young people going through difficult times need friends to rely on, not lovers.

When Corrie passed off a much older Faye as 12 it was a joke! I am nay about Craig and Bethany even though I like both characters. Ever since Craig has first appeared on the series I've always liked him. How about he goes onto school and makes something of his life?

I think a lot of viewers like Craig very much and would love to see him go on and do something really great with his talent and his character - he is truly a good lad - let's have one young person on the street that really does something great and not just work on the street. Please, Please???

That would be a No for me. I'm still hoping for a Craig/Faye romance.

Isn't Faye only a year or two younger than Craig?

I'm not sure anymore how old any of the children on the street are. Since they are always older than depicted on screen it really is hard to tell. Actually I was surprised that Faye still lives on the street as we haven't seen her on screen for ages, same for Anna.

Nay for me as well. Sorry but Craig is way too good for Bethany. She would break his heart. It always seems strange to me that the teenagers on the street never appear to have any friends whatsoever. When my son was a teen he had loads of friends both boys and girls.
