Alan Halsall, who plays Tyrone Dobbs on Coronation Street, has been talking to the Manchester Evening News about Deirdre's funeral scenes. He says that he believes the whole nation will find Deirdre's farewell scenes tough.
Alan revealed that he grew up with Deirdre, as a Coronation Street fan before joining the soap in 1998.

He said: “The storylines will pull on heartstrings. I knew Deirdre before I knew Annie as I grew up watching Corrie so it’s really difficult anyway but to know her personally as well and for it to be so quick, it’s such a tragic loss to everybody, whether you knew her or not. Some people would have known her character for forty years. Those scenes will be hard to watch.”
Corrie producer Stuart Blackburn has said this week that Deirdre's funeral script is 'really magnificent'. There is a scene in which Deirdre returns as "a ghost" and the scripts have been written by superb scriptwriter Damon Rochefort. Find out more about that here. Damon also wrote the scripts for Blanche Hunt's funeral.
A public memorial service for Anne Kirkbride will take place this Saturday at Manchester Cathedral.
