The spirit of Deirdre Barlow lives on in Coronation Street

There's a spoiler in today's Sun that says Deirdre's ghost will haunt the residents of Coronation Street.

Well, it's not exactly true.

What will happen - and only read on if you want to know - is something much less haunting.  It's quite a nice touch, I think.

A gust of wind will blow the door open in the Rovers as the regulars are toasting Deirdre, having found out she has passed away. It makes Michelle jump, Steve closes the door and says 'it's windy out there and that door needs seeing to.'

It's hardly Most Haunted as many of the news outlets are copying and pasting from The Sun today.  But it is, I think, a really nice touch.

The public memorial service for Anne Kirkbride takes place in Manchester Cathedral this Saturday, 30 May. Members of the public are invited to attend.

I have every faith that Corrie will pay a beautiful tribute towards Deirdre x:)

Oh i'm glad it isn't the way the media has been reporting it. I was worried. This way will be a nice little touch. Who's to say people's spirits don't touch base by moving a door or leaving a feather or a coin?

I'm sure we will see a few wonderful episodes but I do hope Deirdre hasn't been forgotten in a month's time. While all the adults are getting on with their lives, Amy and Simon should have some tearful scenes every so often.

I really hope they keep Sarah and Bethany away from the funeral. If they talk through the service like they did at Gail's wedding for "comedy" then it will just be an insult.

Humpty, everyone else gets forgotten, when was the last time Ken or anyone spoke about Susan Barlow or indeed Val?
