Isn't it time for "Audrey and Me"?

I absolutely loved ITV's special tribute to Helen Worth and her classic Corrie character, Gail McIntyre. It did feel a little rushed - an hour would have been much better for telling this story, but I adored seeing all the old clips again.

It was also great not only hearing from Helen herself, but also catching up with the wonderful Amanda Barrie (Alma), Cheryl Murray (Suzie Birchall) and Brian Capron (Richard Hillman). I particularly enjoyed seeing Amanda and Helen back in the cafe set, reminiscing about the wonderful Jill Summers. Amanda's impression of Phyllis Pearce was something else!

It was so touching to hear Sue Nicholls speak so fondly and genuinely about her on-screen daughter. It's ever so clear how close they both are in real life and how this really does come over when they are in character. They have played mother and daughter now for over thirty five years after all.

I do love a good Corrie documentary, however I came away from last night's programme thinking it was about time they made one on Audrey and the lovely Sue Nicholls. I know "Gail" had her half hour thanks to her forty year milestone, but Sue has been playing Audrey since 1979, quite an achievement!

I make no secret of the fact that Audrey is my favourite Coronation Street character. Sue Nicholls is always brilliant and her presence lifts even the most humdrum and mundane of scenes.

So do you agree? Would you like to see ITV make "Audrey and Me"?

I Argee with you Graeme. I think there need to be a 10 or 15 year rule to get a special of some sort.

I did not think Tina McIntrye and Becky Mcdonald derserve. Bit harsh but they did not reach double digits in years of service.

I think it's mainly judged on the impact the character/actor has made. Still think Hayley deserved a special too.

LOL For all her years I don't think you will see and Emily and Me.
I found it interesting that Helen has appeared in more episodes than any other female.....good for her!
Does anyone know who the male is? Would it be Ken....and if so any stats to be found on this stuff?

I absolutely agree. Audrey is one of my all-time favourites too. 35 years is a pretty good milestone!

It must be Ken although Corriepedia should have stats on that. I imagine Eileen Derbyshire is too private for a documentary crew to follow her around
