He's been dubbed 'Frank Spencer with a bad temper' - Poor John hasn't had it easy, what with people randomly dropping dead around him at inconvenient times.
He must be the only serial killer/ex-kidnapper in soap that people feel sorry for, he obviously goes into things with the best of intentions, but somehow it always ends up going wrong for the poor soul.
I bet he wished he just stayed a drama teacher now. I have to wonder though, what does the future hold for the poor guy? I'm covinced there will be another death before he is discovered.

I'm thoroughly enjoying this storyline. It's a wonderful black comedy.
I am loving it too but he's not a serial killer is he? Charlotte is the only one he killed which could be argued as self defence. Joy was having heart failure and he had his hand over her mouth to stop her screaming and she died.
I don't feel sorry for him one little bit, though.
There was a Law & Order about a dedicated teacher with a brain tumor that made her do horrible things. Over the years, our John has gone from milquetoast to nut job, ratcheting up the drama with every scene.
GH was amazing last night in the revelation to Joy. Everything he does is subtle & engaging, and I hope they find some way to keep John around. Tumor, anyone?
It gets more and more ludicrous but John has an endearing quality about him - someone said he reminded them of Deputy Dawg - he isnt really a cold blooded killer, its all about circumstance.
I love Stape, I don't care that he kills everyone he comes into contact with! it's the way Graeme Hawley smiles. Must admit he is getting creepier lately though - the hand over the mouth was an awful moment but I couldn't help laughing at the same time "my spray! my spray!"
If he is going to kill again let's all hope it's Fiz.
I love Stape. His blundering around with corpses littering his path is brilliant - and I like the way the Fishwick saga has stopped being treated as drama, and has instead become farce. I really want him to get away with it.
Me too Merseytart.
I feel so sorry for him! And I know I shouldn't - I hope this story runs a bit longer. Don't won't it wrapped up too quickly. But wasn't he an English teacher though?
I'm sure he originally taught drama, when he first appeared he was organising a play with Chesney and Sophie in it
It was hilarious last night, great black comedy indeed. But Joy's death was definitely a bit dodgy, he witheld her medication and stopped her crying for help! So he's certainly not innocent. Charlotte's death was surely manslaughter.
Agree with Dishwasher Crab, Fiz is such a pain, I'm surprised she's been around so long.
John was originally mentioned in the show as Sophie's drama teacher, but in this day & age it's common to find English teachers covering underfunded drama departments. Even more so if the school doesn't actually HAVE a drama dept; in which case the English Dept usually assumes responsibility for the Christmas/Summer production. I think Corie's been entirely plausible in this respect.
I was myself, many moons ago, an English and Drama teacher. Of course I've never kidnapped a pupil, impersonated a colleague, cheated on a partner (Yay! Really, I never have!) smacked an old slapper on the nut with a hammer nor frightened an old lady to death (discounting that old dear who had the stroke when I was playing Benedick in Huddersfield. That wasn't me, it was the guy playing Dogberry ... )
As a finale to the killing spree, I would like to see John "do" someone with the pillow over the face. The hand over the nose and mouth was pretty good, but I'll feel cheated if he doesn't go for the pillow. No idea who the victim would be though.
While John Stape is at the hospital he may as well round the number to four and put a pillow over Tracy Barlow's face and do us all a favour :)
I like him, I hope they find a way to keep him around.
A pillow over Tracy's face?! Oh YES PLEASE!
