I disagree. Ivy Tilsley makes Mammy Connor look like Mother Theresa.
I don't know if she is the new Ivy, but I think she has potential. I really like Helen, although she is a bit annoying, she's a realistic character. I like her scenes with Maria too and they will probably end up being really close after the whole Tony saga. I think it would be good if they moved Barry and Helen onto the street full time.
I loved Helen when she was played by Sorcha Cusack. Even though she was harsh, you still felt there was a warmth underneath.
The new Helen is just a cow, though. She doesn't have the same subtlety.
Haha, good cross comparison. They've definitely got the scowl down. Well, I think Helen is right in her convictions, but I think that the fact that she's so bloody rude to Maria is what makes you not even want to listen to her or care about her concerns.
Battle-axe Connor is great! Part of the fun is to watch a battle-axe in action, but then also get ground down -- either by being shown love, beaten down, or through time... or hopefully through good writing/storytelling a combination of all. I'm all for the senior Mr. and Mrs. Connor moving from Ireland to the Cobbles! At least we know that Mr. Connor will be a regular at the Rovers Return!
I would not want more Connors on the Street and why on earth would they want to leave their home in Ireland to live on the Cobbles? I think Mammy and Pappy are great in small doses but would quickly become irritating if in the Street full time, and it would mean more scenes with Michelle, not a good thing.
I ♥ Helen Connor.
