With due regard to the recently departed, hello, good evening and
welcome. I am not Glenda who is away on holiday but I am here to let
you know about events this week in Weatherfield.
Glenda ended last week's update with Chesney taking Katie and Joseph
back into his home. And he was mighty glad that Joseph was there. But
something was wrong - indeed it was so wrong that instead of getting
Katie into bed he slept on the sofa. And indeed before long Katie had
worked out that it was not going to work and stormed back to Anna's. Fiz
decided to take matters in hand and told Sinead that Katie was gone and
there was a Sinead shaped hole in Chesney's life. Sinead is far from
stupid however and did not fall for it.
Roy and Hayley return from holiday and first have to be told that Sylvia
has abandoned ship. Roy is understandably morose that his mother cannot
face the cancer and has runaway to Hastings. (I drove through there the
other day - apart from the sunshine I am not sure that Weatherfield is
not more attractive). At least attending the two parties takes their
minds off their own problems for a little while - and they have been on
a very long drive and have been everywhere, they've been everywhere.
Sean was hearing noises off - so where did he go, oh yes next door where
Kylie is on her own and after tidying a plate away suddenly goes into
labour making the oddest noises. Sean summons the cavalry - Gail,
Leanne and David. This being Weatherfield and a baby being borne
prematurely on a bank holiday you can't get an ambulance for love nor
money and for the next 20 minutes or so Kylie continues to make the
oddest noises ever heard on a soap. Somehow the only award she will get
will be the one for over-acting. Anyway Gail delivers a baby (Leanne is
about as much use as a wet weekend as she keeps reading from the
manual). No midwife either. Of course they all turn up after the baby
is born. The baby luckily looks like Kylie, not David or Nick. And
eventually David and Kylie decide she will be called Lily.
But the baby drama is not over. With David out of earshot Granny Gail
wants to know which of her sons is responsible and starts telling Kylie
she needs to arrange a DNA test. Meddlesome Granny.
Nick remains in a coma and we spend very little time in the hospital. Oh
and Kylie is so fit and the baby is OK so no hospital visit for her.
Gail is trying out some new clogs and nearly falls downstairs - she
ought to be more careful or she will be in hospital.
And we end with Roy and Hayley preparing for the operation. Roy has
arranged a special meal which Jenna and Anna serve before the horrors of
hospital. Hayley disappears, allegedly to buy some magazines, for a
couple of hours and Roy is getting worried about making sure she has
everything. Mary brings in three large books and there is a lengthy
discussion over the various authors, the only one I know is Dan Brown.
Then Hayley re-appears - she has gone shopping and bought some new
slippers - really pushing the boat out Hailes. And then we get to the
hospital and whilst we know (thank you for spoiling everything) the
outcome there are several touching moments of devotion as Roy prepares
to leave Hayley overnight (on nil by mouth) but promises to return in
I think I missed Karl's stag party - it did not go well and was called
off after the first round. So hardly worth mentioning with so much else
going on. And St Ella is not sure if she should get married anyway
whilst Nick is laid up. Jason on the other hand is not sure about Karl
and they have a bit of a bust up in the gents until Dev calms them down.
Karl admits to torching Jason's van.
And Craig is causing concern for Beth and Kirk. He must be worried
about going back to school.
And that's just about that for this week. Remember, you can sign up to

around this time.
