Steve McDonald's new woman

Actress Lisa George will turn up in Coronation Street on Friday 5th August as Steve McDonald's nightmare date, Beth.

Eagle-eyed Corrie fans might recognise Lisa's face as it's not the first time she's been acting on the cobbles. It's her fourth stint on the soap as a different character.

In 2007 she played a character called Jacqui, in 2005 she played WPC Stonall/Family Liaison Officer for 5 episodes, and in 1997 she played Nurse Brampton.

I wonder how many times they bring an actor back before the viewers do spot them? I admit to not recognising Lisa George, but I found it weird that Colin Fishwick was played by the same actor who was Jimmy Clayton (Steve's girlfriend Ronnie's gangster husband), perhaps because the actor was reasonably well known before appearing in Corrie.

Lisa is a girls name wheras, George is a mans. Is Lisa George half man and half woman? ha ha!! (that would be a great story for Steve)!

Not much of a "new woman" if it's a one off "horrible date" though. I hope they don't pair him up with anyone too soon.

She just looks like a rather fatter version of Becky! I am sure the gurning will go into overdrive!

Looks like a young Cilla to me!

The one reused actor that really jarred with me was the guy who wanted forgiveness from Emily Bishop for shooting Ernest, who was the same man Trisha Armstrong moved to Blackpool with, but again, quite a well-known tv Face to begin with, and besides, both of these characters were in the show for a few months rather than just a couple of episodes, which is what most re-used actors get (nurses, policemen, social workers &c)

with the hundreds if not thousands fo actors who finish training every year and then either don't get a job or go into TIE then stick there, I think programmes like Corrie should give them a chnace instead of recycling previous actors. We have reached a stage now where the same 100 actors appear in every single programme - Australia reached it years ago when the same 20 appeared in every show and America, with its vast selection still churns them out time after time so you sit there and say he died last week or he was a baddie last week.

I totally agree with gab and Steve and I have always championed unknowns instead of the constantly regurgitated characters going from soap to soap and shows like Heartbeat and the Bill. And yet again Frank Foster's mother is to be played by well known actress and ex Heartbeat Gwen Taylor - I would be nice if they would TRY and be original like they used to be.

She was a bit funny and I loved the allusions to the chubby child being Steves'.
Can we be sure that she wasn't actually Cilla incognito though?

thought Lisa was really great - played the role very well and brought some much needed humour onto the street. The inclusion of her son was great too and have to wonder if he 'belonged' to steve - great acting form that young actor as well - fantasitic facial expressions and chemistry with Steve.

Why didn't Steve phone Fat Brenda when he looking for a date in last night's (5th august) episodes?

This was great! You just knew it was going to be the date from hell the more Steve glamourized her memory. And that child had to be older than 10 but wasn't he good too!

Lisa George was a hoot in August as Steve's old flame Beth. I know her personally and off set she has a fantastic sense of humour and I know will 'cause havoc' in Corrie. Go get em Lisa!!!
