There's a Coronation Street spoiler in today's Daily Star which reckons Carla Connor fears she may have contracted HIV after she gets raped by Frank Foster. Tabloid rumours suggest Carla also considers suicide after the rape.
In scenes to air next month, we'll see Carla arrive at the sexual assault crisis centre immediately after the attack. She is examined by a female doctor who tells her: “I know this is very difficult for you right now, Mrs Connor, but we have to talk about tests for HIV and hepatitis. We can also offer you emergency contraception.” Carla is left in shock as she undergoes the tests.

More cheery storylines to look forward to then. How come she would contract HIV after the rape when she has been sleeping with him for months anyway?
That's not an HIV storyline. That's a woman who has been sexually assaulted being given the correct medical treatment. Overhyping from the tabloids I'm afraid.
Agreed, of course, blinkin' tabloids!
I"m with Merseytart, that's exactly what i thought when i read the news feed. All rapes these days test for HIV. I think they even did that when Toyah was raped many years ago. I may be remembering wrong. Overhyped.
This is just standard treatment for a rape victim. Next they will be saying: "Carla in emergency medical dash drama", when they mean a trip to the rape treatment centre.
I wonder how much sympathy she's going to get from Maria?
