In another bid to give Stella Price another high profile storyline, The Sun reports today that Stella will emphathise with Carla Connor's rape horror by revealing she's been raped in the past.
I don't know, but this smacks to me of pushing Stella to the front of the show again, as much as possible and trying to force us fans to like her. Dodgy accents aside, Michelle Collins is a good actress but I'm not warming at all to the character of Stella Price and this fan sees this rape storyline as a ploy to get her on side with the fans. And while she's a decent actress, Michelle Collins seems to be on a hiding to nothing trying to act against the Coronation Street quality that is Jane Danson and Chris Gascoyne (Leanne and Peter). Even little Simon Barlow steals Stella's scenes.
Anyone else actually enjoying watching the character of Stella Price on screen yet?

I have enjoyed watching Michelle Collins from the start and that is probably because I didn't really know her from Eastenders. This is obvious the reason that people don't like her because she was well-known in another soap. If she had NOT been well-known and was still a Londoner, would people still like her or not? I think they would.
Why has she got to use a false accent because I don't see why a cockny cannot serve in a Northern bar? Even though she is working in the bar or doing anything else, I think it would be different to heat a little bit of cockny used in Corrie and odd time. What about Mike Baldwin...wasn't he a cockny? Well everyone enjoyed watching him!
As Leanne is starting to get a little closer to Stella, I know things take time to adjust, but I think if Stella asked Leanne to go clothes shopping together, then things might get even closer for these two. This story we have just been watching yesterday (Monday 8th August) happens in real life to some people therefore, in real life, I think it could help to get people together if they see Stella and Leanne go shopping together or go for Simon together, or do something else together. By doing something 'together', could cause a bond between them.
I've never seen Michelle Collins in EastEnders and I was perfectly wiling and able to give her a chance as Stella Price. It's not Michelle Collins I've got a problem with, it's the character of Stella Price and the way she's come in and been given one high-profile storyline after another while some of the other, better characters on Corrie are being sidelined.
I agree totally with Flaming Nora, they seem to be giving the character of Stella one high profile storyline after another. They have some great characters who they don't use and some great characters who have left or are leaving
I don't know, really, she seems a bit bland to me. If she's supposed to be the landlady, i want to have more scenes with her running the bar and interacting with the staff and customers. We've had a bit but we need more. Her focus shouldn't just be Leanne.
I was prepared to give her a chance (& I didn't know MC from Eastenders because I don't watch it because it's shite) but she's just not doing it for me. Maybe that will change as the character develops more depth but rape and other such sensationalism is not a way to do that.
That;s my problem with her. I too have never watched EastEnders, but I still know her character from trailers, clips on other shows etc., and to me she is still an EastEnders character pretending to be a Coronation Street one.
If only they'd hired Gwen Taylor to be the new pub landlady instead. She'd have been perfect.
She still doesn't look comfortable.
IN Corrie she overdoes the acting
Monday 8th her accent slipped a few times
She doesn't fit in.
I don’t mind her, can take her or leave her really, I don’t think she is a very strong or good character always seems a bit insipid to me and they are obviously trying to make her into another Liz, being Dreary’s pal. I just wish she would stop gazing at Leanne all the time, its getting a bit creepy!
i love her but as Flamming Nora & Anonymous said (above)i didnt know her in EastEnders either so maybe im finding it easier to warm to her in Corrie.
Overall, i like her relationship with Leanne, see nothing wrong with her accent! & like like the character.
Not warming to her at all(the character). One dimensional.I squirm at the awful accent and lack lustre acting. Stella is supposed to be a strong, warm, woman but I don't get any sense of that at all and frankly I just don't care about the character.I'm feel I may have to ditch the programme at least until this awful rape storyline is over.
I do NOT get the relationship between Leanne and Stella at all. Leanne sobbed her heart out in her mother's arms after the miscarriage and now just gives her the evil eye all the time. The continuity in this program really is terrible. Wishy Washy. I don't mind Stella but she should really grow a pair and put horrible Eva in her place..or out the door.
insipid, wooden, unbelievable and embarrassing to watch, couple with depressing, unrealistic storylines.Really not looking forward to upcoming rape plot and will have to use the off button. Please, anyone, when is Phil Collinson due to go ?
Ths character of Stella is not working for me. Her introduction feels forced. After 30 years apart, wouldn't she be more patient, instead of pushing herself on Leanne at every opportunity? Plus the way that she speaks to everyone as if she has lived in the Street for years is just ridiculous.
In a nutshell - NO!
I'm afraid she just doesn't do it for me. The character and the actress don't work well.
Storylines to try and justify a decision never really do the trick and when an actress seems to go OTT to make things better, they just get worse.
Sorry

I have to agree with the general consensus. Was prepared to give the character time to adjust, but so far it's all been much too quick. The revelation as Leanne's mother should have been done after the family had been established. I feel that the family could eventually have a place on the street - especially Karl - but their introduction has been so terribly orchestrated. To date I see no point of the Eva character at all (in fact I almost didn't even recognize her last night at Nick's with the straight hair and bright red lips). I also had to fast forward through last night's scenes with Stella & Leanne. As Flaming Nora says, Stella just fades into the background in any scene with Jane Danson or Chris Gascoyne.
all the anonymous comments are getting a bit difficult to follow - can we make it a rule that people have to put a moniker to their comments - it's just getting to hard to know if it's 20 different people or the same person ranting haha.
Any old makey-uppy name will do - just pick one and stick with it pleeeeeeeeeease xx
I know we've had some unlikely stories in the past but the writing and acting has won us round but Stella and family arriving on the street is quite unlikely, not well written and not particularly well acted. Don't get Eva at all. In these days of Facebook, that seems the most likely way of making contact. Maybe Stella would have used a false ID, or perhaps Leanne found her and got in touch only to regret it. And that would have given a good character actor/actress the chance to run the Rovers. If they're trying to make Stella the mother hen of the street, it's not working. She looks uncomfortable to me, like she's wondering what she's doing there.
Thumbs down from me I'm afraid. As the landlady of the Rovers Stella and her family should be the focal point of the whole show but we've barely seen her behind the bar. The Rovers has always been a place for good comedy but Stella's clan are a complete laughter-free zone.
Loved Michelle Collins as Cindy Beale but Stella.....not so much, a bit wimpy with a woe-is-me attitude. Agree that this family seemed to have been dropped into the street overnight and how convenient that a job opening was available for Stella mere yards from where her long lost daughter lived! As for lemon-face Eva, she needs to exit the cobbles in the next available Streetcars taxi.
i think shes terrible sorry to mc but i gave her a chance and shes wooden as ever its jsut like im watching cindy beale with a northern accent
and stop staring at leanne its weird!
I only wish she would pull her weight behind the bar as she never seems to do a full shift! - Micky
No to Stella. I want Becky back behind the bar.
