Julie and Brian, are they the new Mavis and Derek?

The best storyline this week, bar none, was the coming together of Julie and Brian and it was every bit as fun as I anticipated.

She calls him her Destiny. He's got his head in the clouds around her. Her heart is beating like a trance club and he's beating the pavements trying to keep in shape. For her? Maybe. I don't get the feeling running and Fell climbing were normal passtimes for him.

When they met, they crooned Barbra Streisand and Neil Diamond. They gazed into each other's eyes, very clearly struck by Cupid's arrow. When Julie ran into him again at the school, Dylan in tow,

Her personal fashion statements hit the overdrive in that hot red and black dress and she looked amazing but her confidence was not up in the stratosphere. She drank too much Dutch courage and was all over the place. The best line of the week, though, "Single is the cruelest word on the planet. That, and 'banana'", when questioned, she pulled back another shot, declined to answer and muttered "Still too painful" BWAHAHA!

Then, drunk over dinner, she reckoned Eva was after her man and then even more drunk, trying to accost him in the bar. In the end, she caused quite a scene and it didn't end well.

If Brian manages not to be scared away, it'll be a miracle. Or Karma, as Julie would see it. And maybe that's just what it is, karma. They do seem to be the perfect couple and they have the potential to be a classic double act in the same vein as Mavis and Derek!

If the spoilers are true, they're going to be on our screens for the foreseeable and I for one, can't be happier.

Corrie comedy gold!

Agree! The actors really play well off of each other, they both have great comic timing and seem to enjoy working together.

I fear it's at the expense of Norris and Mary though. You can't have BOTH couples in the same show can you? The scene where she spilled her drink in the Rovers was a comedy classic...and the very funny 'that's not my phone moment'

For the first time in ages, I laughed out loud. Brilliant acting! Outrageously over the top, Julie was great. Female drunk played for laughs needs a lot of talent and she did it.

I like Julie and Brian but let's not make them too OTT and silly or the whole thing will descend into an embarrasing farce. Some parts in the restaurant were funny yesterday, some were not, Julie having a go at Eve, for instance was just stupid.

I thought exactly the same thing Tvor! They are exactly what the show needs at the moment. Her blind devotion to him is great- Micky

Far better than Norris and Mary, I think, who have faded into the spare parts closet anyway. Katy Cavanagh plays drunk very well and that's difficult to do. I don't think Julie having a go at Eva was too much really. She was drunk and feeling insecure and thinks everyone else must be after her hunk of burnin' love.

Absolutely fantastic scenes. both are fast becoming my fave characters. Hope to see both on screen for a long time to come.

Wouldnt go as far as to say better than Norris&Mary, who have been woefully under-used recently. You can't have too much comedy in the show and both couples should be able to compliment each other.

Fingers crossed Corrie is going back its humour roots following a poor showing in June and July.

At least Julie will manage to get Brian in the sack, whereas Norris acts like a scared little virgin at the very thought of getting down to business with Mary...those two are beyond ridiculous-I can't stand them. Either Norris puts out or call it quits already.

Now I know where I've seen Brian (Peter Gunn)... he was in A Touch of Frost and played that strange Sydney Snell (naughty boy!). Mind you, he's been in quite a number of other films too.

Sorry to say this, but Reg had more UMPH! I must admit he was more funnier than what Brian will ever be and I loved watching some of those real comical characters. There was something about Derek too as he had more go in him than Brian. If the writers intend to use Brian as a comical actor with Julie which I hope they do, then I hope they give him a much better comical part to play. If it wasn't for Brian's humorous face (which is normal for him), then I don't think he has been given a real comical part at present in Corrie. Actually, I thought he acted better with John and Fiz, and I think the writers need to give him a better comical part to play.

I would to see Norris & Mary to go somewhere together with Julie and Brian. Things could get slowly out of hand where Brian gets the blame by Mary of something comical happening to her.

Brillaint, love Julie,so refreshing after all the dire doom and gloom plots. I am practically at the point of switching off over the up coming Carla rape story but this might just keep me viewing (provided the rape story isn't protracted)

Julie Carp is a good character. Not a major one though, but she's certainly fun to watch - unlike many others that need to go!

However, defo not the new Mavis and Dirk!
