Do you like Kylie - Yay Or Nay?

Last week we asked you do you like the Marc/Marcia story line, and, unsurprisingly enough, the readers voted Nay, with blog editor Flaming Nora putting it aptly: "Sadly, a big fat NAY. This just hasn't worked" and I have to agree.
This week, we ask you Do You Like Kylie? We can all agree she is a nasty piece of work, but that's what makes a good character, right?
When she first appeared on our screens last year, I have to admit I wasn't fond of her. She just seemed like a younger clone of Becky (pre 2008). Between that, trying to bed Steve and exchanging her son for 20K, I didn't like her at all.But then, enter Kylie 2.0.

I don't know what happened when she came back from Aiya Napa, but my opinion about her completely changed. I love her now. Her constant bickering with Gail, her scenes in the salon, and her outing of Marc have all been highlights of this year. I just love her now - my favourite character in Corrie as well as Mary.
So obviously it's a big YAY from me, what about you?

It's a Yay from me. Kylie's character absolutely shows how we love to hate some people and others we just hate. Take Tracy - the producers would have me believe that because I loathe Tracy (character and actress), she must be doing a fine job. They insult my intelligence. With Kylie, she is vulnerable; it's clear why she's messed up; she has many redeeming qualities. The actress portrays her in a quite understated way and that makes her more palatable than Becky.

It's a YAY from me :)She can be very cruel and spiteful at times but i love how she gets her own way with Gail! Being cruel makes her enjoyable to watch if that makes sense? I definitley love Kylie :)

Definately YAY from me.

A definite "Thumbs UP" for me too.

Although there were the obvious similarities between the Becky and the Kylie characters, I never was fond of Becky.
She was too volatile, either very up or very down.

Kylie is different and have to agree Paula Lane plays her with a sense of both vulnerability and viciousness, but with her, you get the feeling that the viciousness is really only skin deep and there might possibly be room for some normal recovery if given time.
Becky on the other hand was always on the edge of going off the deep end.

I really like Kylie, too. Excellent actor and they've given Kylie more than just a one-note. They try to give Tracy a bit more with her feelings for Steve but since she's basically a stalker, it's no joy. Paula Lane is a real star and I really love watching what Kylie's getting up to next and who she's ticking off!

I hate Kylie so it's a huge YAY from me as she is perfect as a very irritating and annoying character.

Love watching her. What badness is she going to do next?

YAY!

I say a big surprising YAY. When she first came on I could not believe how much I despised her, but in true Corrie fashion, she's been softened and I actually like her.

That, plus the fact that I can't stand Gail and her sanctimoniousness. Nice to see Kylie bring her down a peg. Very proud of David even though I know he won't be taking a job away from the street. Who knew there'd be a day when David and Nick were the rational ones in the Platt family???

Yay, and she is much more appealing than Becky.

YAY! paula lane is a fantastic actor, I'd love to see her and becky in some emotional scenes together as katherine kelly is another fantastic actor, who recently seems to have fallen out of favour. hope the same doesn't happen with kylie.

She's brilliant at the emotional and the bolshy

YAY for me. She's a right rabble-rouser now, but not without some heart. Becky is so off-the-rails and painful to watch now, so Kylie fits the bill nicely :)

Yay...Becky's time is completely up now as her acting has gone down the plughole... It's time for some descent acting and Kylie fits the part much better than Becky will ever do. I think Becky should call it a day as her acting is too pathetic to watch and she is also so boring to listen to.

Kylie is the perfect replacement for both Tracy and Becky - fresh and multi-dimensional in a believable way.

YAY from Frosty, she is a nasty character - yes - but she is many dimensional - and because Paula Lane is such a great actress she is very believable and complex and quite interesting. Totally unlike some of them at the moment, Chris and Cheryl for example bore me to death and I groan everytime they come on screen. I enjoy watching Kylie and love her barbs to Gail, she certainly got the daughter in law she deserves!

It's all down to the acting ability, so while it was a definite NAY for Mark/Marcia (he is an appalling actor), it's a huge YAY for Kylie who, in addition to having real acting talent, is now being given the scripts and lines to match

Yay from me. I prefer her now to when she first arrived. Her scenes with Gail and Audrey are class as well as with customers in the salon. I have to say viewers warm to single characters rather than a whole family.

A big YAY! from me too. I love to hate her, but she's shown just enough vulnerability for us to understand her, unlike Becky who is even more loathsome when she trying to be the victim... mainly because she has such a hard-looking face. Hopefully they'll give Kylie and David a place of their own soon, which I think will give the couple more room to shine.

Did someone say Becky has fallen out of favour - what, because she wasn't in one episode? She'll shortly be working in the factory (God help us!), so if she's fallen out of favour, she hasn't fallen nearly far enough IMHO.

Have to agree with everyone else. It's a huge YAY from me. Kylie has also brought out the best in David's character. He's no longer a nasty piece of work and no longer pining after Tina.

YAY. If anyone from Coronation Street reads his blog, please do not ruin Kylie. She's great.

Yes I agree too. Didn't like her at first but she's much better with David. I hope they keep the two of them "loved up", it makes a nice change to see David happy.

Definitely a YAY!

10 months behind in Canada Jack died last night, I cried. I dont like Kylie or Becky they are sleazy, cheap and disgusting, get rid of both of them.

YAY, YAY, YAY....brilliant actress able to transition quickly from vile to vunerable. Better yet, she's a thorn in Gail's side.

I love Kylie I am gritting my teeth through the whole baby buying ridiculousness on the fact that it brings us Kylie. Kylie and David are one of my favourite couples right now and they are perfect for each other I hope they last for decades.

Yay! Paula Lane is a great actress. I think Kylie works really well with the platts

Kylie is a wonderful name for a marvelous character

Ditch the cow and send tracy with her

Tracey, David and Kylie could all leave Coronation street and none of them would be missed. Sometimes nosy Norris could take a leave or finally be a decent person and stop being such a busy body.

Anonymous said...

NAY...she's terrible. Nasty character. I actually feel sorry for Gail.

She and David can just LEAVE. Much, much better actors like them are let go, and these two stay? Embarrassing.

She's a one-note character, bah-BYE already.
