Kate Ford signs new Corrie contract

Actress Kate Ford has just signed a new contract, keeping Tracy Barlow on the cobbles well into 2013.

ITV broke the news this morning, saying: “We’re thrilled Kate is staying with the show. Tracy is a great character and gives us scope for some exciting storylines over the next year.”

We blogged earlier this month about Tracy’s return to the show – along with the surprise of being pregnant with twins to Steve McDonald. She’ll be back onscreen on Friday 9th September.

Kate Ford is very clever. She releases a press statement saying she doesn't think acting really suits her a few weeks ago,

This would have made ITV worry that she wouldn't re-sign her contract. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't make her a better offer and she signed on the dotted line.

Ben "The Elderly Plank" Price, Kate "One expression" Ford and Samia "Pointless" Smith get their contracts renewed. Steve Huison gets the sack. There is no logic or reasoning to these decisions.

'Tracy is a great character ....'? I'm obviously watching the wrong programme! In the one I'm watching Tracy is a terrible character and played by someone who can't act.

Tracy is a good character. She's just played by the wrong actor. If Kate Ford thinks acting doesn't really suit her, she should follow her own instincts but obviously that was just all a load of toss to get a better offer for her next contract. Probably they'll give her more time off to see her baby.

I agree with Anoymous#3... the wrong people are retained while the right people/characters ha left or are leaving... this show is still sinking.

Depressing news. Yes, she's not a bad-looker along with other non-actors like, well, most of the young females. Can she act? Pass the paper bag and we'll give it a go.

I'm also confused about the conflicting messages Kate Ford has sent out such as commuting from London taking it's toll on her to saying acting isn't really her thing...maybe she was saying that to prepare ( herself) publicly in case her contract wasn't renewed?
I have to agree about Samia Smith getting her contract renewed and letting the likes of Steve Huison go. Samia is Boring, Boring, Boring, and in my book, has always been.

Oh Lord. I guess she won't be going back to prison for her cold-blooded murder then. I just pray they don't keep her with Steve.. he may be stupid but he deserves better...

It's a bad sign when an actor says they don't really like acting. Kind of sets the scene, doesn't it? I've never even heard one say this before! Does make me wonder about it being a ploy.

Such a shame cause she ruins the show when she's there. Love the character & Kate is quite attractive. Acting - what acting?

I really hope they re-open the case against her for the murder of Charlie Stubbs..she cannot get away with it IMO. That would be awesome!!!

Have to agree with the anonymi (is that pleural for anonymous?
:0 )...why would they get rid of the wonderful Steve Huison and keep Kate Ford and Samia Smith.....it boggles the mind! Not looking forward to Tracy and Steve being together.
