Coronation Street Episode Review Monday 2nd March

It's rollers a go-go as Audrey, Gail and Sarah get ready for the wedding. Audrey's already stuck into the Prosecco ("we can have it with some croissants") when Bethany comes 'round to argue with her mum about going down sarf with Daniel. Bethany stomps off to the community garden and is schooled by Craig about making up with her mum, and Adam tells Sarah the day is about them, not Bethany leaving home.

Sarah walks down the aisle flanked by David and Nick (I guess Martin couldn't be bothered?) to a sort of jazz version of Just Like Heaven by the Cure (weird choice, but OK). Sarah and Bethany look gorgeous in their art deco inspired frocks (although I don't think dresses were cut that low in the '20s, Sarah-Lou!) and I hope I don't sound like a perv if I say the handsome Sam Robertson looks per-retty hot in his suit. Is this the Corrie first wedding in recent times that's gone off without an altar confession, a no-show or a fight?

Meanwhile, Daniel has also got up early to sort out his stuff before his impending move to a 6 foot by 6 foot room in zone 7 in that London. He takes a bag of Sinead's stuff around to Beth's, who unfortunately isn't in, so it looks like someone's dumped rubbish outside of their flat. Kirk bins it, but then Emma tells him what is what and he discovers that the rubbish collection has been and gone. Kirk and Craig go to the dump but Beth goes to the wedding, and tells Daniel and Bethany that they've erased the memory of Sinead. Hardly an episode goes by without one of her videos, Beth! Daniel does the Barlow thing and starts necking the whisky before breaking down during the best man's speech as he remembers his short marriage to Sinead and even Bethany is coming to the realisation that it still Shunaid he loves, not her.

Geoff tells Alya that Yasmeen isn't coming to work because of her bad back, but really because she's still upset about poor Charlotte Bronte (the chicken, not because the writer died 165 years ago) and he doesn't want her to tell Alya. The latter turns up to take Yasmeen out for a walk, and Geoff gets into a panic, thinking Yas has finally done the sensible thing and left him (although leaving him the house would be a daft move) but she returns and he breaks down, begging her not to dump him. She forgives him, but he squirrels away money from Speed Daal away in a locked cupboard. What's he up to now??

Janky Jade is back, pressuring Tyrone for a visit with Hope. Just take her! Take her and don't come back! She makes up some stuff about how it's her birthday, she got one card (from John from beyond the grave?), locked herself out, lost her gran's bracelet blah blah and although Ty isn't taken in, Hope hears and wants to invite her sis around for tea.

It was so lovely to have an actual wedding ceremony that was just nice and romantic. I loved the Charles Rennie Mackintosh references, nice to have a bit of culture in the street for a change.

Martin isn't Sarah's father, he is David's. Didn't he move to Australia or New Zealand?

Martin was Sarah's stepdad (he adopted her).
