Kym Marsh interview: Baby for Michelle?
How has Michelle been feeling since Robert raised the issue of having a baby together?
It really surprised her when he said it and she panicked, she didn’t expect it at all as it wasnt something they had ever really spoken about. And it has put a bit of a barrier between them because he has clearly thought about it and realised it is something he wants and she just hadn’t even considered it being something they would do.
What are her main fears when she realises he’s lying to her about the training course?
She is wary that he is keeping stuff from her again, he has such a past history of doing that and she had thought they’d resolved those issues. And because they are at odds over the whole baby thing she is really worried about the fact that he has lied to her about where he really is.
What prompts Michelle to look into counselling and her decision to have a baby?
She has started to think about it, promoted by Robert bringing up the subject and she realises she has never really gone there in her own head and considered whether or not she could face getting pregnant again. She had written it off thinking it was the worse thing she could do but now she is wondering if that is actually the case. She talks to Toyah and she recommends someone for her to see.
How does Robert react, and is Michelle convinced and happy about the idea?
It is Robert’s turn to be completely thrown, obviously thinking that Michelle was adamant about not having another baby he had started to go down a different route with Kate and Rana. Now he knows he will have to let them down to pursue his dream of a baby with Michelle.
How would she cope if she found out Robert’s been baby plotting with Kate?
She would be devastated, he hadn't even given her time to really consider his idea before he rushed headlong into another plan which is really doomed to failure. And he didn’t even consider discussing it with her first, how hurtful is that. After everything she went through losing her baby, then finding out about Steve and Leanne and Oliver, the last thing she needs is someone else keeping secrets from her about babies.
What do you make of Robert going behind Michelle’s back in this way?
After everything she went through losing her baby, then finding out about Steve and Leanne and Oliver, the last thing she needs is someone else keeping secrets from her about babies. She had put him first by going to talk to someone about the idea and meanwhile he was off planning to have a baby with someone else!

Aren't these characters getting too old for babies? Shouldn't the stories revolve around menopause instead.
Agreed
