Cathy's nephew Alex arrives next week. He'll be played by an actor with Down's syndrome.

producer Stuart Blackburn said that actor Liam Bairstow was
cast from a recent workshop they held for actors with
disabilities.
Previews for next week say that Roy will be charmed by Alex and invites him to stay the night on his sofa when he turns up unexpectedly.
But Roy and Cathy are embarrassed when Alex assumes they are an item. Will Cathy admit that she’d like to be more than just a friend to Roy? Anna encourages Cathy to open up to Roy about her feelings. What will Roy say?

Oh no! I didn't mind the story thread about Roy's discomfort about people getting the wrong idea about his friendship with Kathy - there's an interesting social commentary there as modern society does leap to unfounded conclusions about close platonic friendships - but this implies its not 'the wrong idea', at least on Kathy's side. Why must the waters of friendship always be muddied by one of the pair developing 'feelings'. I fear its inevitably just s matter of time before the writers drag Leanne & Zedan down the same path (Leadan? Zeeanne?)
Has there been any news of the actress playing the role of Nessa? She's supposed to premiere soon on the programme and in all the articles, they don't mention her name.
Also, do we now if Nessa and Alex are going to be regulars?
