The Coronation Street blog sat down with cast and crew of
Coronation Street on Friday where all was revealed ahead of the explosive
week titled 'Tracy’s Revenge'. In a small screening room in Central London, Kym
Marsh, Jimi Mistry and Sally-Ann Matthews sat with us as we watched each
gripping episode, enjoying every moment just as much as we did with each actor's character having a central role in the episodes. Producer
Stuart Blackburn shared a few teasers for the months ahead, as summer on
Coronation Street promises to be truly unmissable and more than worthy of that
recent BAFTA win.
Director David Kester offered an insight into the many hours
put in to creating such an epic and unforgettable series of stories, culminating
in several life-changing events. The fire itself, the central event in next
week’s episodes, took over five weeks to film, several weeks longer than
planned, as cast and crew worked painstakingly to get it just right. We've seen the build up to these scenes over many months, and at the centre of the story, we'll be left wondering whether Tracy has yet again gone too far. But it’s
not just the event itself we should look forward to. What happens on Coronation
Street next week will have repercussions for many months to come and will see
families torn apart, surprise new relationships formed, with new and uncharted
directions for some of the characters we know and love.

Callard revealed this week that whilst she tried hard to keep reality and
Coronation Street apart, her first scenes in the Barlows’ living room recently
brought back the reality of her friend Annie Kirkbride’s death, and it was a
difficult experience. Stuart Blackburn revealed that they are now working on
Deirdre’s funeral and the aftermath, how families and friends come together to
remember the iconic character. Expect tears, laughter and the odd lock-in at
the Rovers.

Another "Tracy's Revenge" scenario. She's already gotten away with cold blooded murder so anything after would be a bit lacking I'm afraid. Just IMO

Has Tracy "finally gone too far" ? Really! Cold-blooded murder of Charlie Stubbs was not going too far? Glad I don't live in your world.
I'm looking forward to the lock in at the Rovers to say goodbye to Deirdre. Should be lots of laughter and a few tears. No doubt I'll get something in my eye while I'm watching.
The only way that Tracy can go too far now is if she murders several people through her act of arson. Now we have something to look forward to! Perhaps some of the dead weight will get caught up in the blaze and cull the cast.
Murderess and arsonist, why hasnt the nutjob Tracy been locked up by now? Her nastiness bores me now and it beggars belief that any man, especially a supposedly street wise bloke like Tony who is not short of female company, would constantly be taken in by her. As I have said before what for her for the future - an old crone roaming the street gurning and shouting at everyone? Enough already!
Having watched Tracy tell Ken that she was fed up with her life and 'people will pay', it's more likely that Tracy doesn't start the fire. Unless Corrie is to go in for double-bluffing, that scene was surely a plant where her own dad will think an innocent Tracy started the blaze out of revenge. Also, SB said some characters would go in a completely different direction. Tracy has a chance to redeem herself after her mother's death by caring for her father and daughter, and giving up men for the time being. That would be nice, although some viewers might prefer evil Tracy. I'm not one of them and think that, at nearly 40, the character needs some realistic, interesting storylines. As for who does the damage, it could be an accident. Carla could get very drunk at the wedding and knocks over a lighted candle.
Terrible photo of Anne Kirkbride. They really went out of their way back then to make her unattractive, with those big glasses and hair, ha ha!
As people have said, the follow up of small details are so important. The show loses its polish without them and viewers are turned off or these will simply turn off. It has to be precise.
