It’s one year since Pamela Nomvete and Krissi Bohn started filming on Corrie, in their roles as Mandy and Jenna respectively.
In response to an anniversary message, Pamela tweeted to a fan this morning: “Which for me marks the end of my contract with Coronation Street. It has been a fun year, thank you.”
In recent weeks, we’ve seen Mandy's relationship with Lloyd hit rocky ground during the race row, and Mandy continues to have a strained relationship with daughter Jenna over her career choices.
I, for one, will miss Mandy – I feel she’s never really been given the chance to shine.

This doesn't come as a surprise. It's a shame her character never really got the chance to take off, but the problem was that she and Lloyd never clicked on screen. There was just no chemistry between them at all.
Damn shame, her character wasn't given a chance. She really could have worked wonders behind the bar as the voice of reason.
When I saw this on twitter this morning I was very shocked! I don't know if the producers decided not to renew her contract or she herself decided to leave, but I think it's a missed opportunity. I quite liked her.
I wanted to like Mandy, but it feels like she was written to be unlikable, from her not telling Lloyd he had a daughter, to her not being supportive when Jenna came out and then her bullying of Jenna when she's doing her best to find a job.
No surprise there. Nothing about the character worked, through no fault of the actress.
Hopefully Jenna will now go to and take horrible Sophie Webster with her.
Pamela Nomvete has directed plays and written a book as well as acted. Her own life story makes interesting reading. How awful then that she should appear on Corrie in a hopelessly thought out storyline. Where was the music that Lloyd and Mandy loved, and why weren't they doing rock nights in the Rovers? Good luck to her for the future.
They just didn't invest in her character, it's a shame. That's what happens when you have such a big cast.
So sorry Pamela Nomvete is leaving. As everyone has said, her character has not been truly invested in. Like Sue Johnston, she's an actor with huge talent but nowhere to go on Corrie. Such a shame, hope she gets better work elsewhere.
I'm on Team Disappointed. Yeah, Mandy and Lloyd were going nowhere, but she is a good fit at the Rovers and pushing Jenna to find a better job is all too real.
Could this be why Krissi Bohn got a cast card and Pamela Nomvete never got one?
Sorry she is going but her strange disappearance when the Rovers fire business was going on was the beginning of the end really. I agree this character never really took off. Please take the ghastly grinning Jenna with you.
She wasn't really Lloyds type was she...plus she was a rubbish actress. I think once the writers saw her acting talents on screen they made up their mind not to extend her contract. Firstly there was no chemistry between her and Lloyd so they moved her into the rovers to see if her character had any chance of survival then they just stopped writing her in any scenes. She could have Been the 2nd person to die in the rovers fire, that was a missed opportunity.

I think there could have been chemistry with Lloyd had they given it a chance. Once they got together, they were barely seen as a couple together. I liked the actress too and i thought the character had so much potential.
Oh yeah, wishes do come true! She really was rubbish, plus there was no chemistry at all with Lloyd.

I'm sure she's a good actress but she did seem hopelessly miscast as Mandy. It's been obvious this news was coming since she reappeared and suddenly was no longer friendly with Lloyd and constantly on Jenna's back. It just seemed very rushed. I personally think Pamela didn't really express the salt of the earth nature that Mandy needed - she would have been much more convincing as a more middle class character. I must agree with the mob that say Jenna has to go though. Her acting is pretty lacking and the lack of chemistry between her and Sophie is pretty cringeworthy. I'd struggle to believe they were even acquaintances, let alone a couple!
Another case of a well respected actress being poorly served by shoddy scriptwriters. Hardly surprising she didn't want to stay - her character was given no decent material and no redeeming features. Hopefully though this will be the last of the horrible/unsuitable women they have paired up with Lloyd and they will finally match him with someone decent (and no, I'm not talking about Liz MacDonald!!!)
I've always thought that a good script can make even a poor actress seem better.
Likewise, a good actress should be able to make even a poor script seem better.
I always found it odd that they were put together as lovers reunited after 25-30 yrs and they never kiss, hug, are romantic at all. I cant even remember the last time I saw them holding hands, although I do remember Lloyd often slinging his arm over her shoulders much like a lads night out at the pub.
I dont see any chemisty at all between them, not even friend-type chemistry he has with Eileen.
And Jenna/sophie are much the same. Sophie/Sian were always kissing, hugging, sweet talking... just having fun and being young and in love. But with Jenna there is no chemistry at all
They shoulda just cast Jenna as Llyods new gf. I sorta like the scenes with them with shes not harping on all sourfaced
I am glad to be honest. I think that Lloyd and Mandy were mismatched and I didn't rate the actress.
There was potential there...a little anyways. I think she had a few good moments, but not much really considering she's been on a year. And also, she fell victim to the "no screen time" wasteland that so many actors on the show have been afflicted with. Mandy's biggest problem was the contrived and forced storyline that brought her and Jenna on the show...it just didn't feel real. At least she will probably leave in better shape than Paul, who's being turned into an embarrassment of a character with the racism story.
on another note, how amazing were those Stella free weeks?! Oh lord, they just flew by! No beige! No dodgy accent behind the bar! It was a glimpse into a Weatherfield without the atrocity that is Stella. I was devastated when she came back.

As much as I hate to admit it, I agree with the above, I haven't missed Stella either. I hate to admit it because I feel bad for the actress...so good as Cindy on EastEnders, but the Stella character is just a so-so creation that should have left long ago. Having said that, I've really been enjoying Rob lately, those Rob /Peter stare downs...I haven't seen so much passion on Corrie in ages.
She didn't fit in. Sorry, but IMO the character was a big lady with a bigger mouth and didn't fit in. She was off screen for how long and I didn't even notice. She popped up behind the bar after MIA for about a month only to say that she was in the back or some such nonsense.
A repeat of the Dr. Carter character - could have been so much more but the writers with their vast imaginations couldn't think of anything other than to have her harping at her daughter at every turn.
They had to make room for Liz MacDonald back behind the bar.
I feel bad that an accomplished actress like herself ended up in this role. The actor who plays Lloyd asked for a Black family on the show and rather than building one up or introducing a new family to the Street, they just gave Lloyd a fully matured family and expected it to all work out. That was a poor way to introduce the family in my opinion, especially as if it were real life, and you just found out you had a grown child, you probably wouldn't settle into domestic bliss right away.
I liked Mandy behind the bar, she could have kept a lot of the young people in line, but there wasn't much else to her.
I didn't mind her behind the bar, but any face-to-face with Lloyd was awful. She wasn't a good match for Lloyd. She was grumpy from the first time we "met" her; and Lloyd is SUCH a nice guy - no chemistry there. She should've been happy about being reunited with a long-lost love, but she never was happy. Ugh.
The only thing I agreed with her on was how she felt about Jenna wasting her life. Jenna's character could've used her skills at the Medical Centre. Hanging out with Sophie was a ridiculous storyline.
