Greetings and welcome to the Coronation Street Weekly Update. Find out more about the Coronation Street Weekly Updates and why they've been written for th'internet since 1995 at http://www.corrie.net/updates/weekly
Th’update’s coming atcha a little earlier than normal this week. Corrie’s got one of their Big Weeks going on, where it’s on every night and at a later time than normal. I’ll be tucked up with my Horlicks by the time it finishes tonight and as it’s Bank Holiday today and I’m off work with time on my hands, here we go with this week’s Coronation Street update.
Roy’s taking the news of his dad’s death rather bad. He’s internalising everything and shining up anything in the café that needs shining and some things that don’t. He’s polishing stuff that has had the life polished out of it already. Once that’s all done he takes to sweeping the Street and ticking off young Craig for littering the cobbles. Hayley keeps harping on to her husband and Sylvia warns her to leave well alone, she knows what her son’s like, but Hayley keeps trying to make Roy see sense. He will, in time, I’m sure. He just needs to be left alone, for now.
Speaking of Craig, we saw him this week after too long an absence. But the poor little sausage was looking a little glum and distracted when we spied him at the bus stop. Let’s hope that glum and distracted look signifies the start of a storyline for young Craig-me-laddo as he’s brilliant, he is.
And now Craig’s cousin’s on the cobbles too - and she goes out on a date with Chesney this week. He’s trying to grow up and be brave having to face Katy and Ryan across the Street every day, but he’s struggling. Anyway, he takes Sinead on a date to the Bistro only to sit directly opposite Katy and Ryan. I can’t have been the only Corrie fan to be shouting at the TV: “Chesney! Just move!”
Over at Underworld, Carla takes Rob back on after his stint at the bookies. She tells him he’s now Head of Distribution and sends him packing. He’s not best pleased to be working in packing and when he finds out that Tracy has to pick up an order of twenty thousand pounds worth of silk, he hits on a plan. Tracy’s in on the deal as she hands over the silk to a dodgy geezer Rob knows and then gives herself a split lip and torn top so that it looks like she’s been robbed. Carla knows summat’s up when Tracy and Rob spin her a yarn about the silk, and it’s good fun to watch as Tracy’s yarn slowly, and silkily unravels. At first though Carla wasn’t sure if Tracy was daft enough to give herself a split lip but Peter soon put her straight - this is the same Tracy Barlow who once ironed her own arm.
Tina goes into labour two months early this week after she and Gary argue in the back yard at the pub. And sadly for Izzy, she finds out from overhearing their argument that Gary made a pass at Tina. Still, going into labour two months early means two less months we fans have to endure this surrogacy lark.
And finally, I’d have loved to have said this was the big story of the week but not being a Stella fan, I can’t. The Rovers reopened. It looks a little different, it looks a little bigger. Betty’s picture is back on the wall after Rita printed it out and had it framed in the supermarket. The dartboard’s back, there’s a new paper rack by the bar and no official opening, the regulars just queued up and walked in. New pub, new dartboard, same Stella, what a shame.
And that's just about that for this week. Remember, you can sign up to receive these Corrie weekly updates.

Is Stella wearing dentures? They looked very much so last night when she tried to smile and actually get an expression on that face. The Rovers doesnt actually look that much different. Where IS Mandy, not that I have missed her particularly but she seems to have vanished off the face of the earth, you would think she would have had some input as she is supposed to be the cook.

Agreed! Enough already.
Going into labour two months early probably means that the baby is really Tommy and Tina's.
