The TV Choice Awards 2010 were held last night at the Dorchester Hotel in London. Coronation Street won only one award, an Honorary award for being on TV for 50 years. Best soap went to EastEnders. The full list of winners is hereRyan Thomas' younger brother Adam won best soap newcomer for his role in Emmerdale.

With regard to the "Best Soap" award....
Fact: EastEnders is more popular than Corrie with a younger demographic.
Fact: Younger people are more engaged with the Internet on a daily basis.
So long as these "internet poll" awards continue, Corrie will usually lose.
The fact that Corrie has been topping the ratings recently, with 9.5 million on August 30th means nothing of course.
Awards should be chosen by a large panel of industry professionals.
