The latest scuttlebutt (that's such a great word, isn't it?) to float around t'interweb is the burning question, Could the Rovers Return ever be the same without Betty's Hotpot on the menu? Apparently, The Powers That Be are wondering if they should retire the hotpot should Betty Driver decide to retire from the Street. She's now in her 90s and it's inevitable that she will want to leave at some point. We see less and less of her as it is and when she does appear, she's nearly always seated.
So, when she takes her well earned retirement from the Rovers after over 40 years, what should take the place of her legendary hotpot? Nobody else could make it as well and perhaps nobody should. Interestingly enough, William Hill has opened up a book with odds on what might replace this classic dish on the Rovers' menu. They're giving the best odds on a lamb cobbler with a plain old meat and potato pie coming in second. Any takers?

NO! It's Betty's 'otpot or nothing as far as I'm concerned.
It's just one of those "fake stories" that Collinson said the Street's press office would be peddling up to the big events in December. Why would they create a "commemorative keg" for Jack Duckworth as a memorial and then scrap the hotpot after Betty's retirement...? Surely she's more of a memorable figure for Newton & Ridley!
I sense a fake story....
