How cute is Simon Barlow?

I'm not usually one to gush when it comes to kiddie actors, but how cute is Coronation Street's little Simon Barlow (played by Alex Bain)? Without wanting to embarrass the lad I'd say about a twelve to fifteen on the one to ten cute-o-meter scale. I just love watching him. The scene with Simon and Peter last night, with little Simon sniffling away, almost had me reaching for my hankies. I wanted to jump into the telly and smack Dev and Ashley when they said he should have 'fessed up sooner, the swines - he's only seven! And I'm worried already about how he'll cope when Peter hits the booze again. Chris Gascoyne and young Alex are a great team.

Aw, when he asked if he was going to be locked up? Bless. Perhaps Sunita will take the responsibility of of caring for her own kids now instead of farming them out to someone just so as she can sit on a stool in the corner shop and sell milk and bread. Bad enough that she took them away from that lovely big house and garden to live in a two up to down in a yard. Perhaps they are unfit parents.

No, sorry, don't agree - I think the child who plays Simon is a precocious brat who constantly overacts. He puts me in mind of a little goblin, it's quite creepy really.

Oh my goodness Dilly Daydream, I have thought the same thing myself.

However I do think the young actor is a natural with great potential, perhaps the best child actor ever in Corrie.

I did wonder about his personality when I saw him angrily shrug off a pair of hands placed 'chummily' onto his shoulders during the cast acceptance of their awards, and the words "precocious" and possibly "brat" did spring to my mind as well.

I do agree that Chris Gascoyne is brilliant with the actor, they work very well together.

I do think he's a natural. Far better than many of the kids they get that are wooden as all get out and clearly don't want to be there. At least Alex Bain interacts and reacts. A little over acting? Maybe so but it's better than the alternative.

I hate him. I think the script writers have got it all wrong with the words he says. He is meant to be how old in corrie? 6/7? He comes up with words only adults use, Hell even I havent heard heard of half the words he says. Keep it simple for such a young kid dont give him words any normal young kid wouldnt use. Hope they kill him off or get rid of him somehow lol

He plays an only child and only children are often privy to adult conversations so his vocabulary would fit that world.

Thanks

Of course he uses big words. He's Ken Barlow's grandson.

I remember young David Platt was simply adorable - and look what happened to him!

I agree little Simon is a cutie. I think it's those curls.

But what's this? Peter to start drinking again?? Noo! Peter sky-rocketed the hotness scale when he stopped drinking. Here in NZ we're miles behind UK so I'll still get to enjoy him at his best for a little longer. He's currently wooing Michelle and if she doesn't want him, I might consider my options if he's looking for something on the rebound!
