Spoiler: Kabin Wars begin

There's a Coronation Street spoiler in The Mirror that suggests The Kabin will be getting sold off when Norris Cole returns to the show.

Don't read on any further if you don't want to know who Norris sells it to.

Still reading?

Ok.

Here we go.

The Mirror says that Norris will sell the Kabin to Brian and Cathy.

Where this will leave poor Rita is anyone's guess.

Mr Curry Sauce told The Mirror: “Rita is the Kabin. She’s been behind that counter serving the residents of Weatherfield for decades. Even when Norris bought it off her, she remained working there and has been holding the fort all these months while he has been away.

Brian and Cathy tell Rita they have done the deal to buy the Kabin. But until she has seen the contract she’s having none of it. Let the Kabin war begin.”

Hope this is just temporary until it's sold to someone else. Have no problem with changing up the ownership, but not a fan of those characters.

Rita is in her 80s. It's about time the poor woman was allowed to retire!

Do such shops still exist in the UK. Here in Canada smoking is on the wane, as is newsprint on paper. Seems to me much of the prior function of the Kabin is obsolete. Children no longer deliver morning paper, no one puts card in the corner shop when the internet is a more efficient notice board.

Shops like the Kabin still exist in the UK. I often buy my paper in one such shop but it's part of a chain of newsagents. Printed news is still popular in the UK, along with cards in the shop window. These are very local ads for pet sitting, room in shared houses etc. As for Brian and Cathy taking over the Kabin, might work although it should have happened a long time ago. They've become very irritating and I'm not all that keen on Rita these days. So, rather a boring storyline for me.

Maybe it's just me, but I'm fed up of these business war storylines. Who will buy the Rovers??? Should Maria get a higher role in the salon??? Will Brian and Cathy buy a shop or will it be Daniel and Sinead??? Who will become manager of Zeedan's restaurant??? Who should have inherited the factory, and who should Carla's business partner be??? They're unnecessarily tense and uninteresting and get way too much screen time.

No doubt Rita will seek Adam's legal advice, since that's the only use the writers can seem to find for him.

Rita is well past retirement age. I wouldn't mind Cathy in the cabin but I find Brian insufferable.
