Corrie theme tune stars in The Sound of ITV

Tonight on ITV at 8pm there's a programme called The Sound of ITV: The Nation's favourite theme tunes.

And as you'd expect, the Coronation Street theme tune will be included.

The programme is narrated by Victoria Wood and gives a countdown of the top 20 theme tunes from throughout ITV's history as the channel marks its 60th anniversary.

The list of tracks was compled via an opinion poll, which gave viewers the chance to vote for their favourite themes from the six-decade catalogue of ITV's most popular shows. From Morse and Tales Of The Unexpected to The Avengers and Thunderbirds, these ITV favourites have provided viewers with some of the most memorable TV soundtracks of the last 60 years.

The Corrie theme tune variations we've found so far are as follows:

Sing Me a Memory - the version with words
Soulful funk version by The Flaming Muchachos
Ska reggae version by Izzy Royal
Coronation Street Jamaican singalong by Top Grant
Rock and funk style
Funkin' it up on Corrie
Compare the Market - Corrie's sponsor from Nov 2012 - meerkat band plays the theme tune.

In the show itself, there have been three main variations (one of which was only used for a few weeks in 1969), plus several re-recordings. Harry and Concepta's wedding in 1961 used a slowed-down arrangement of the theme in the end credits, and Emily and Ernie's wedding in 1972 had a version played with flutes and strings in place of the normal brass instruments.
