Platt storyline takes a turn to the dark side

From twitter:
Comedy Callum and his Power Rangers pyjamas are set to get scary in Coronation Street.

Next week on our favourite show Max will find a gun in Callum's flat and Callum starts threatening Sarah.

For such a supposedly scary villain, it's funny how Callum picks on the girls, isn't it?  Someone called Callum a 'big girl's blouse' the other week online, which made me chuckle. That's just what he is. He's the campest Corrie villain that the show has ever had.

Callum turns on Sarah after he shows her the photos of Bethany acting as his drugs delivery girl.

How much longer must this story run?

I hoped Kylie's return would speed this story up. Now it seems it's less about Max and more about Bethany getting drawn into Callum's gang. The story will end when Callum meets his own sticky end. That could be when Sarah decides to take Bethany back to Italy.

It's gone on far too long already. It's impossible to take Callum seriously as a villain, so the whole tedious storyline has become a massive turn-off. Not happy with the direction the characters of Sarah and Bethany are taking either! They need to be extracted from this dire mess and shown in a better light before they wear out the patience of the audience...

My patience was worn out ages ago. I no longer care about this storyline at all. These scenes are the perfect time for discussing other story lines occurring in an episode. I used to refrain from talking while the show was on, as I was afraid I would miss something, or some witty line.

Anyone seen the new ad on tv for rugby - when Take That appeared at the end for a split second I thought Howard was Callum!

Like others, I lost interest months ago, so won't go on about how dire the story is. I can, though, imagine SB sitting in his office fuming that the audience is laughing at his so-called bad boy. "Right, if you want proper nasty, I'll give you proper nasty", I can hear him say. The problem is, Sean Ward simply isn't capable of exuding genuine menace, so this ramping up of the drama will most likely fall flat. Fortunately, many of us have already discovered the miracle of the fast forward button so will be spared the tedium.

I just can't believe that the decision makers on Corrie Street are totally ignoring all the negative comments posted on this blog page and Digital Spy also. Will they just stand back, do nothing and let Stuart Blackburn completely ruin the show?? I would sometimes watch Corrie episodes more than once just because I enjoyed them - that has not happened lately and I find myself wandering off to do chores when the silly plot lines just bore me to tears, and I'm in the US so I have to rely on Hulu for the latest episodes, it's not as if I can log on to ITV player, etc. So in the long run maybe I will finally give up on my favourite show.

Agree with all the above. Time was in our house, no-one dared utter a sound while the Street was on.

Now I find I cannot look at or listen to Callum any more. It's the way he holds his mouth, and his voice really grates on me. And Bethany is as bad. Whenever their scenes are on, I mute the sound and play another level of Candy Crush on my phone.

Really really bad casting of those two.

Excellent pic BTW.
This storyline might be a tad more believable if the actor they hired to play Bethany didn't look older than her on screen mum by a long shot. Bad decision and the whole thing will go down as one of the worst storylines in Corrie history IMO.

I agree with all of the above. This is dragging on and on, and SO RIGHT about Callum picking on girls....and David. lol.
I also was hoping that Kylie coming back would put an end to the nonsense, but it's just continuing with Blech Bethany.
There was a time when I looked forward to Sarah's return, but now I wish they'd head straight back to Milan.

The platts are NOT the only family on Coronation Street, yet they get 99.99% of all the storylines, and they drag on. Getting tired of seeing them, especially Gail. she seems to be in every scene. Coronation Street will soon be renamed to Platt Street Lets join another family for a change.

Totally agree with all above. With the pointless 6th episodes and all the dull padding it's actually becoming a chore to watch. The past 2yrs I've gone from insisting I have sole use of the TV at broadcast time to watching them later and doing other stuff in the tedious parts. I've still got last night's 8.30 ep to watch as I was so bored by the first ep.
Please ITV bring back the Corrie I would drop everything for :(

If Corrie wants spectacular -- how about Bethany kills Callum and Sarah covers for her but gets found out and both end up in jail! Let's hope they come up with more interesting characters than these three pathetic attempts at acting... Lyn from Ottawa

I bet if Bethany does kill Callum,Sarah will frame David for it and with Gail's help, they'll escape to Milan.
That being said,I also agree with everyones' comments about the Platts taking over Corrie and their storylines dragging on and yet other actors get the axe for 'lack of storyline?'

This storyline is definitely one big yawn fest, and no one is going to win any acting awards for it either. Perhaps it will be a murder/suicide, we can only hope and that they get rid of all 3 of these characters. When any of these 3 are on, I just about cringe, and find that it's a great time to run to the bathroom, go make a coffee or, well, anything!
