Coronation Street has won in the Soap category of the Radio Times' Creative Diversity Network awards, a forum for promoting diverse talent in the creative industries.
From Coronation Street, it was character Izzy Armstrong, played by Cherylee Houston, who was nominated for Corrie's diversity award. The award was voted for by the public, and it's very well deserved.
The Radio Times says: "Izzy Armstrong, a wheelchair user, is a captivating character and the handling of her desire to parent a child resonated with the judges."
