Coronation Street actor Bill Tarmey's funeral was held yesterday. And ITN news have some very moving footage of Coronation Street's Samia Smith (Maria Connor) giving her tribute to Bill at the funeral.
Bill Tarmey's family have asked that donations are made in his memory to Brain Tumour Research
A fundraising page has also been set up at
www.justgiving.com/BillTarmey for people to donate to the charity.

Samia was very eloquent and it was a moving tribute. It's rare to see her publically speak; I found her a very charming and intelligent woman when she appeared with Bill and his family on the ITV show, I believe it's called Family Fortunes.
It is great to hear these sorts of stories because it gives viewers a glimpse into the real person behind the character. Particularly because of the criticism of Maria we often read here, it is great to read about the success of the lovely Samia.
I'm curious as to why Samia would give the Eulogy instead of one of the older Corrie street actors who have known Bill longer - William Roache or Rita (can't remember her real name)? If they wanted someone younger why not Alan Halsall who actually worked with him more than Samia - perhaps he was in Canada at the time?
Alan Halsall was far to devastated to do a eulogy. And was back from Canada... Bill worked closely with Samia when she first joined the cast of corrie... and a strong bond was formed..... even more so with the support she shown to Bill's close personal charity. Brain tumour research... Samia was very brave to stand up on behalf of the cast n crew to speak at Bill's funeral... at the request of Bills family. . .
Hope that answers u question
