Physically, because of the pink wallpaper, and metaphorically speaking it's probably Eileen's house. Elephant in the room? Paul and Eileen's relationship with his wife under their feet?

Yep, I thought of Eileen's too. Even before the wallpaper, I've noticed that she has a few animals around the sitting room. (snerk)
