There was a short piece in The Observer today that said Government Ministers will be in talks with Coronation Street to discuss ways the soap can use condoms more often in sex scenes. Campaginers from the Sex: Worth Talking About intiative are due to meet with Corrie bosses soon to discuss this at length.
Hang on, hasn't Corrie already been at the forefront of condom use recently in the storyline when Ryan and Sian slept together? It was quite clearly mentioned, much to Ryan's embarassment, when Michelle had a word with her son to make sure he wasn't having unprotected sex. Do we really need Government ministers telling our soaps what to do?

NO!!!! in a word. What a brass neck. "Nanny state gone mad", if you ask me.
"...to discuss this at length"
Beautiful turn of phrase!
Oooh missus! Here's a condom storyline - how's about ANOTHER job for the aunties - get them doing a "cleaning up initiative" at the Red Rec, litter picking - bet they'd find a fair few there. Wonder if they can be recycled? (condoms, not the aunties)
you can make a football out of condoms.
I saw that in an African film to promote condom use.
Corrie has often been used to publicise government initiatives, right since the 1960s. Check the posters in the pub and cafes, for instance. Under every shade of government.
Nothing new here.
This sounds like crap to me. Since when does a TV drama entertain government campaigns?
Spin!
Well it would make a change from characters getting pregnant 'just like that'....
Must be a high pregnancy rate in the Street almost as high as the death or divorce rate!
LOL...
Now I think of it, did Clare not do a Red Rec clean up a while back? wonder if she made a football for whatsisname, the little lad?
