Construction work begins on Coronation Street's new set

Media City UK's official Flickr has recently added a bunch of pics showing construction work starting on Coronation Street's brand new set. There's nothing much to see just yet, but it's exciting news hearing that the construction has finally started.

I can't help but wonder if there will be a visible difference on screen (aside from the suddenly larger scale of the street).

The thing I'll miss on the new set is all the moss and green mould that's built up round the base of the houses over the years!

Still if set designers can create alien planets and historic palaces a replica of a fictional street shouldn't be a problem...

Does anybody know when construction of the actual terrace is going to begin? :)

i think its going to be visibly different. the whole set is going to be sparkling new, more space will mean that things will be spread out a little bit more, the terraces will be more to scale meaning the bistro entrance won't look so massive. they can also correct the little disjointed things like the painted bridge with the track that goes behind the ginnel...perhaps they need another act of god so they can rebuilt the street...maybe a fire that goes from the rovers all the way down to the corner shop (hopefully dev and sunita will be trapped)

ALL I HOPE FOR IS THAT YOU COULD VIEW CORONATION STREET SET FROM A ADAVANTAGE POINT SOMEWHERE IN MEDIA CITY UNLIKE THE CURRENT LOCATION OR THEY COULD DO CERTAIN DAYS WHERE THE SET IS OPEN FOR TOURS !!
