The previews are in from ITV for next week’s Coronation Street and at Stillwaters, Ken’s furious to realise Charles is ripping him off. Norris claims that’s only the tip of the iceberg and says that Charles is ripping off residents left, right and centre with his phoney fines.
When Ken demands a copy of the residents’ rulebook, an irritated Charles makes out they’re waiting for a new edition to be printed. Not believing a word, Ken suggests it’s time the Residents’ Chair was put up for re-election.

I don't get this retirement community. It sounds more like a hotel with the residents eating breakfast and dinner together. I can understand the point of a bar, so the residents can socialise, but I'd expect each apartment to have its own kitchen with the occupants cooking for themselves. And is Charles some sort of manager, or just a bossy resident?

The home where I have a relative is set up like that. Community dining room.
Not all older folks are still able to cook for themselves.
Thanks C in Canada. It's just that Stillwaters is depicted as an apartment complex for wealthy and healthy folk, rather than a care home.
