Emma’s in hospital this week after Dr Ali’s misdiagnosis last week and she has to have an appendectomy. Steve visits her in hospital and touchingly, she called him ‘dad’ for the first time, in a lovely little scene. When she’s released from hospital, Steve and Amy take Emma back to their flat to help look after her. Emma and Amy bond but Emma finds Amy texting Tyler. Remember him? He was the one who got Amy pregnant. He’s Vicky’s son, the one who’s having a fling with Robert. Anyway, Robert finds out that Tyler’s texting Amy and warns him away from Amy. To further make sure Tyler stays away, Robert tells Steve what’s going on with his daughter and Tyler. This is all heading somewhere, I reckon, in exposing Vicky and Robert’s affair to Michelle. How can she not know by now?

Speaking of Michelle, seedy Ray offers her twenty thousand pounds to keep her gob shut about his nasty ways and sexist behaviour when she quits her job. This means Michelle can’t warn Alya to stay away from Ray when she says she’s going into business with him instead of Michelle.

Speaking of Alya, she hasn’t got a clue what’s going on with her grandmother Yasmeen and the horrible Geoff.

I’m a bit perplexed how a strong, vibrant woman like Yasmeen can be brought down by a piece of muck like Geoff who’s treating her badly and she’s allowing him to. But I guess that it happens in real life in much the same way as it happens on screen, so I’m going with it for now. Every time Geoff comes on screen I just want to scream “Slap him! Now!” let’s hope it’s just a matter of time before someone does.

Someone perhaps like Gary Windass who’s turning into the Godfather of Weatherfield. He’s got the loud whispery voice. He’s got the loan shark furniture emporium. He’s got Dr Ali wrapped around his little finger when he finds Ali’s got wind of his loan sharking profession and threatens him with exposure over his drug taking past.

Elsewhere this week, some great scenes between Abi, Sally and Kevin when it’s clear Abi and Kevin are flirting in the Rovers. Is Sally really jealous or concerned for her friend? Well, Abi thinks she’s jealous and tips a pot of spag bol over Sally’s head. But then they make up, because these two are Corrie gold together. However, Kevin’s heart is breaking as he thought Abi was moving in with him and Jack and then Abi tells him she’s staying at Sally’s house after all.

This was the week when David and Shona were wed with a ceremony in the Bistro and David in his prison fatigues. Gail welcomes her new daughter-in-law into the family but as the actress who plays Shona is taking maternity leave any day now from the show, I wonder how long the Platt happy family will last?

Now that Sinead’s gone, Daniel is refusing to return from Scotland for the funeral and so Ken and Claudia head to Scotland to bring the lad home. When a new batch of beard oil making stuff arrives for Sinead, Carla takes the business on. Beth makes her mouth go about how it isn’t right for Carla to take the profits from Sinead’s business but she’s stunned into silence when Carla tells her she’s doing it all for Bertie.

And finally this week, Roy becomes addicted to online Scrabble. Carla’s concerned and his friends are worried for him. But is there something more than Scrabble on Roy’s mind as he sits down at his laptop in the café behind closed doors? Yes, indeed there is, but you’ll have to wait until next week to find out what (or who) it is.

And that’s just about that for this week.

So did Michelle take the 20K if she signed the gag order? I'm sure she'll have some whiny excuse for letting him continue to abuse women. As long as she gets what she wants, that's the most important thing. I wonder what Ryan will think when he finds out that she knew what a perv Ray could be but still let Alya go into business with him.

This is soap land, so Geoff should eventually get what he deserves. Horrible, manipulative men like him usually have a "nice" side as their public persona, and turn on the charm to their partner when they want to get their own way. Geoff is awful all the time, and it is unbelievable that Yasmin would feel at all upset at the thought of him leaving her.

Yazmeen is an intelligent sensitive woman, so why on earth would she stay in a relationship with Geoff when he is so nasty to her? He must have been living somewhere before moving in with her, so can't she throw him out? Adam the all-purpose lawyer can help her extricate herself from the business partnership.
