Who are you and where are you from?
Nick from Yorkshire
How long have you been watching Corrie?
Since 1995, and haven't missed an episode since.
Who are your favourite female and male characters - and the reasons why?
Female - past - Ena Sharples - a true soap legend, Ena led the way for the modern day soap battleaxes, and her scenes are just iconic. Present - Eileen Grimshaw - Eileen is a modern day soap matriach, keeping her family in check...and she lives in No 11 - home of one of the true Street legends, Elsie Tanner, plus her own link to the family being a Grimshaw. Male - Past - Eddie Yeats - here was a true Street comedy legend, his respect for the older Street characters, like Albert Tatlock and Ena Sharples, his immense love and loyalty for the Oggies, especially Hilda (with Geoffrey Hughes returning to the Street in 1987 upon hearing that Jean Alexander was leaving the show). Present - Steve McDonald - Steven James McDonald has gone from a tearaway street teen to an upstanding member of the community, in his role as Rovers landlord and owner of Streetcars, plus his comedy scenes with Eileen, Liz, Lloyd and Tim are just great.
What's been some of your favourite Corrie storylines over the years?
Too many to mention, but Ena v Elsie 1961 and 1965, the train crash of 1967 and tram crash of 2010, Rita Fairclough & Alan Bradley 1989, The Rovers Fire 1986 and 2013, Hilda's departure 1987 (still the most watched episode), Rachel & Curly's two hander, 2000, Dennis Tanner return and marriage to Rita 2011-2012
And what would your fantasy Corrie storyline be?
I would love to bring back some classic characters again, Jed Stone, Dennis Tanner, Peter Clegg (grandson to Betty Turpin), Tommy Duckworth, Paul Clayton, to keep the past alive, something the Street lacks at present.
Have you any snippets or news about meeting any of the Corrie cast, or trips to the set, etc., that you'd like to share?
My interest in the Street started thanks to my late godmother, Poppy Lane (who also was second cousin to another huge Street fan, former PM Harold Wilson), who appeared on the Street from 1971-1995 doing the odd bit part but mainly extra work (her character Freda Loftus won the pram race in May 1978), and she shared stories of meeting Pat Phoenix, Doris Speed, Violet Carson, and many others. I also inherited her memories of her time on the street, press photos and clippings etc. I bought my first book on the Street in 1993, and 24 years later my collection and knowledge has grown to a vast amount - people say I should go on Mastermind! I am immensley proud to have that family link to the most famous street in Britain.
