Beverley, who plays Liz McDonald in Coronation Street revealed on twitter that she's been "battling the demons of depression", and one of the drugs she was taking has been withdrawn.
She's now taken some time off the show while doctors look for alternative medication.
A source told Mirror Celebs: "Bev has taken some time off after one of the medications she takes for her depression was discontinued without warning causing her to have some problems. She is taking some time off whilst her doctors look for a suitable alternative."
Been battling the demons of depression! One of the meds I'm on, has been stopped by pharmaceutical company, apparently it doesn't make money— Beverley Callard (@Beverleycallard) March 30, 2016

that is such sad news - please let her know that millions of her fans are rooting for her and wish her a speedy recovery.
Props to Bev for being so open about an illness that has so much stigma around it. I hope she feels better soon and we can see her back behind the bar asap.
As if big pharma doesn't make enough profit to support an orphan drug or two. They are the best and sometimes only option for a few patients. Grrrrrr
I hope they find a good replacement for BC.
Best wishes to her. Hoping for a speedy recovery so she's back behind the bar soon!
I feel for her, I used to know someone who suffered from depression and had a similar kind of thing happen. I don't understand why these companies think it's just okay to do that, we're not talking asprin. Speedy recovery to her!
As someone who has suffered from recurring depression, I highly recommend the benefits of regular mindful meditation. It sounds like hokum but works wonders - and it takes your power back from the pharmas (not that I am against the use of medication but any supportive alternatives can't hurt to use alongside them). Be well, everyone. :)
Get well soon Beverly we will miss you!
