Coronation Street fire gives show highest rating for 12 months

Broadcast magazine have announced that Coronation Street's episode shown on Thursday 28 May has given the soap its biggest audience in 12 months.

Corrie's previous high was recorded on 29 May 2014 when 9.2m (39.6%) tuned to watch the aftermath of Tina McIntyre’s murder.

Last night’s episode peaked with 9.4m (42.7%) in the show’s final five minutes.

Well..somebody was being killed off so we had to see who it was. That's the only way this show has good ratings..somebody gets offed in one gruesome way or another. Pretty sad.

I totally agree with Anon 12.24. Surely the fact that viewsr figures are improved increases the likelihood of further 'explosive' scripts. Sad reflection indeed.
