Classic Corrie Christmas Moments Countdown - Day 12

It seems that the ITV Coronation Street website has given up half way through with their advent calendar, which is a shame.

So I've trawled through YouTube and found this pearl of an episode from Christmas Day 1972. It was the only time Corrie was broadcast on Christmas Day during the 1970s.

So let's sit back, relax and join in the fun of the Rovers' 1940s show:

That was brilliant. Thank you so much for sharing that. Wowza Rita, if Elsie only knew then that her son would someday break Rita's heart! Wanted more of Emily as Carmen Miranda though (Ernest was a stick in the mud with her wasn't he?)
Is it just me, or does a young Christian Emily look a lot like Christian Sophie?
And I love the theme music..

The trouble was, they didn't go back far enough - they only went back about 10 years and then worked their way forward a year a day, until they caught up with the present, the idiots.

That's right! They weren't old enough to be classics! Where was Hilda's exit for instance. Very disappointing! :/

I enjoy commenting on the articles written. I realize someone has to care enough to take time to create and share them.
Llifon, did you not write this article? I am truly confused.
Sometimes the garblygook written by readers is depressing and disappointing.

Yes I did write this post. If you're the same Anonymous as above, I was agreeing with you with ITV's lack of historical knowledge! :)
