I am reliably informed (by a fellow Corrie-watcher, so it's not tablets of stone - and if anyone remembers this differently, please let me know! back-pedal, back-pedal) that it was NOT Blanche who delivered the immortal line "Oh, here's Oedipus", as Jamie Baldwin walked into the Rovers, just after news of his affair with Frankie had broken.No. It was, apparently, Liz McDonald's former squeeze, Vernon. What made it so great was Vernon's casual delivery of the line (so I'm told, 'cos I can't remember!) as he pulled a pint. Also, the strangeness of Vernon, being Vernon, using a reference from the "classical canon".
