It says here that Cilla Black is joining Coronation Street. Producers have, apparantly, asked her to sign a big money deal to play a long-running role in the soap. But Cilla, 66, who played herself in the show's 40th anniversary special, says she's too tired for that. And she offered to do a one-off cameo instead. News just in: A Corrie spokesperson for the show this morning told Digital Spy: "No approach has been made to Cilla Black about appearing in Coronation Street. Cilla is incredibly famous and it would be difficult to see how she could appear in Coronation Street as a different character."

Well, let's all hope like hell that nowt comes of this.
Perhaps a cameo but not long term. Cilla would always be Cilla and wouldnt be believable in character.

I think that instead of saying "Cilla is incredibly famous" they actually meant "Cilla is incredibly crap". Seriously, when was Cilla Black ever an actor of any stripe?
