Cinderella: Fri Mar 5, 2010 Corrie Episode Review

Gail has decided it's time for her to go back to work. She can't spend time staring at the walls in her place. Distraction can be a good thing. Tina's not feeling the same way, however. David reminds her to be careful about what she says when people start asking questions.

Down at the station, the detectives have found forensic evidence on the boat to indicate a struggle and traces of Joe McIntyre's blood. They deduct that Gail was the last person to see Joe alive. They propose that Gail killed Joe to get rid of him and his debt and to inherit a life insurance fund.

Gail is in the Rovers at her dinner and Liz tells her how sorry she is for what happened to Joe. She also asks if it's true that he'd been murdered by a loan shark. Gail asks Liz to keep her informed when "they" are saying anything more about her situation.

The detectives arrive at Gail's, and she and Audrey assume they're there to tell her that the loan shark has confessed. The detectives tell Gail that she's to come down to the station, and it dawns on her that she's being arrested. Of course Norris has to be witness to this shame. Not only that, but Tina sees Gail being taken away in the police car as well. Audrey and David head down to the station, while Tina tries to make sense of it all.

David and Audrey get no where at the police station and just decide to sit and wait when Tina and Jason arrive also. In the questioning room, Gail tells them she feels like a common criminal. She asks about the loan shark, but they tell her that he could not be linked to Joe's death. Well, not directly at least. They ask her again what happened on the night Joe disappeared. The detectives tell Gail about the scratches Joe had on his face, and she tells them how she tried to prevent him from going. They ask Gail if anyone saw the fight and she says not that she knew. Oh, but the nosy neighbors did see it, remember? They tell Gail about the crack on the head Joe got, and how it got there, only Gail is confused and says it had nothing to do with her. They ask Gail about the life insurance, but she says Joe took it out and she knew nothing about it. They show her the application with her signature on it, but Gail says it must be a forgery. They tell Gail she's free to go. For now, at least.

Gail is let out and tells David, Tina, Audrey and Jason that the police think she dunnit, as the detectives look on.

Peter isn't happy with George and Leanne reminds him that they're catching a plane back today, trying to calm him down. Peter tells Leanne he feels incomplete without Simon around. Leanne tells Peter how she feels as though she's always walking on eggshells around him and that she's frightened since she knows he's not as well as he pretends. George has called asking Peter if they can keep Simon another day, since he's tired. Of course, Peter and Leanne get in the car on their way to George and Eve's. Leanne warns him about keeping his temper in check.

George and Eve are at home when they hear Peter banging at the door. Peter demands to see Simon - now. George asks why he's not in rehab and doesn't believe that Peter's okay. Leanne gets on the phone to Ken quick to get over there. Peter's had enough and decides to call the police. Ken arrives and tries his best to diffuse the situation by suggesting they sit down and talk about this with cooler heads. Peter tells them that he's taking Simon home, even if he is in bed. Ken thinks it's best if Peter picks Simon up tomorrow, and Peter begrudgingly agrees but warns them he'll be there first thing in the morning.

Later, George talks to Eve about how they would be better parents for Simon than Peter. Oh, hardly. An old man shouldn't be raising a young boy who has a father who is there and willing to do so. Eve is shocked about what George is suggesting.

Dev is in heaven preparing his children breakfast while the love of his life gets out of bed to greet them in the morning. Sunita takes up place quickly behind Dev's counter and even manages to put her foot in her mouth when John comes in about "hearing that Fiz was dating some nutter who kidnapped Rosie Webster." Dev is quick to point out that Fiz forgave that nutter, and married him.

It's Theresa's first day of "trial" at Underworld. Theresa cockily assumes she'd be working as a gobby machinist until Carla rolls over the mop and bucket! After Theresa's done cleaning the kitchenette to a shine, Kelly comes in and pours tea and coffee on the floor making a general mess of things. Of course, Carla comes and sees it and gives Theresa the dressing down. Theresa and Kelly get into it again have have to be broken up by Carla. Well, that's it for Theresa as Carla informs her that she's sacked. Theresa tells the girls later in the Rovers that she apologized to Carla and she's back on as the cleaner, much to Kelly's dismay.

Trevor sees Carla in the Rovers later and comments on how expensive her attire is for a "lowly cleaning lady." Carla gives Trevor her number and says only that her name is Cinderella.

Oh no, Claire comes by the Rovers to bring Becky Freddie's old sleepers for her baby. Claire immediately apologizes upon hearing what happened, obviously. Becky tries to get back to work, but Steve keeps telling her to take it easy. Becky wants to know if he's ashamed of her or something.

Liz goes upstairs to check on Becky and tells her about how she lost her baby, Katie. Becky tells her she's sorry for what happened. Liz says she has a little angel she puts up on the tree every year, and every year that goes by she thinks of what her Kati would have done that year. Liz warns her that her and Steve could drift apart over this, as she and Jim did, and she doesn't want that to happen to them.

Becky heeds Liz's advice and goes to apologize to Steve and they both picked stuffing out of the infamous cabbie chair. Steve tells her he wants them to be together and nothing else matters. Becky and Steve decide they will begin "baby making" again.

Graeme tells Claire and Dev how he met a "goddess" (i'm putting that in quotes to say "allegedly" until I see this "goddess") named Candy last night. Dev asks if she was drunk. It seems Kirk had been chatting her up all night, but Graeme was the one to put her in a taxi home. He asks them when he's to ring her. Dev thinks he should leave it for a few days and not to bother with Kirk cause he's a loser. Bahaha. Claire thinks he should call Candy today and to tell Kirk, since they're friends. What? Since when? Later, Dev speaks with Kirk in the Rovers and it seems that he also got Candy's phone number last night after he gave her cab fare home.

It seems Claire has found herself a new project - writing to the council about the state of the red rec and asks John if he'll take a look over the letter. Is everyone illiterate on the street but he and Ken? Claire asks John if he misses teaching, and it's clear that he does. Not nearly as many teenage girls pop into Roy's Rolls as they did the schools. Fiz isn't happy to see that Graeme is subscribing to teaching magazines and thinks he should try something other than teaching. Why doesn't he try adult education?

Claire sees Graeme come into Roy's Rolls with Kirk and asks him if he's told Kirk yet about Candy. Clearly, he hasn't. Kirk beats him to the punchline by tell him that Candy has given him her number after he lent her cab fare. It seems that Candy has pulled the wool over their eyes (which isn't hard to do) by giving them each the other's phone number and taking their cash. Kirk is taking his "own route" to figure out what happened here.

Mary is driving Norris bonkers with the Happy Birthday's. The only thing to brighten his day is a card from Rita. Norris opens the envelope to reveal a card with a chimp on the front and a silly song inside. Mary has reserved Norris a table for three at La Noche for his birthday. Norris says he doesn't want to go and he doesn't want any fanfare. Norris thinks a quiet drink in the Rovers is ample. Norris is upset since his gifts were only items to soothe his aching feet. Norris is excited to see what Mary has gotten him, only she says she needs somewhere more private to give him his gift. Uh oh, what is this going to be? Oh goodness, she's gotten him a toupee since he was fretting about his age! Emily tries to be positive while telling Norris that at least it's not for his feet. Is that not about the WORST gift ever? Norris storms off and Emily tells Mary that maybe it'll "grow on him." Norris goes to chuck the wig in the loo, when he decides to try it on in the mirror instead. He immediately takes it off when someone else enters.

HIGHLIGHTS
- More Sunita cleavage! (unless you consider this a lowlight!)
- Dev's "hot stuff" apron!
- Carla announces to the factory girls that Teresa is there for a trial, and Kelly shouts "guilty!" I am going to miss Kelly.
- Sunita putting her foot in her mouth when John comes in, about hearing of Fiz dating some "nutter her kidnapped Rosie Webster." Haha.
- Is it just me or is Graeme looking a lot more handsome than usual? Have they cleaned him up? Is it the hair or something?
- Liz and Becky finally getting along with each other.
- Janice's evil cackle as Theresa walks her sacked behind out of Underworld.
- Norris freaking out when he touches his toupee thinking it's some wild animal! Then Emily choking on her sherry!

LOWLIGHTS
- John snapping to Sunita about how Dev didn't want him to live on the street. You kidnapped a teenage girl, you're going to get some flack over it!
- Seeing Becky so upset over what happened to her. It's too bad, really, I'd have liked to see her as a mum.
- George being possessive over Simon. He's not his child, he's Peter's. You can't just take a child away from a parent like that. Maybe Peter should have called the police.
- Gail being suspected of Joe's death. I can't believe what Joe has left her with!

Looking forward to: Carla (aka Cinderella) and Trev's hot date!
NOT looking forward to: Ever laying eyes on that terrible wig of Norris' again!!!
