I was told very recently that they still don't allow current cast members to do panto. On this list, the only surprise was Kate Anthony (Auntie Pam). Is there something happening with her character that I hadn't heard about?

Oh bbhilda I hope Pam isnt going but she hasnt been in it hardly at all lately and I suppose with Molly going..... It will be a pitiful shame though as Pam is a great character and then they keep on the Alahans........??????????

In view of Kate Anthony's sporadic appearances lately, I'd guess she's now part-time status (like Ted, Connie, or even Jack Duckworth nowadays). This allows actors to take other work - they could hardly object if the actor isn't employed full-time. Milton Johns, who used to play Brendan Scott, told me a few years ago that he was losing other work because casting directors assumed he'd be unavailable because of being in Corrie, whereas the truth was he was only an occasional character (That, incidentally, is why they agreed to take him on full-time for 6 months and then kill him off - an arrangement he was very happy with at first, but really came to regret as his heart-attack approached). Granada understands that if an actor isn;t in full-time employ on the show, they have to be allowed to find other work elsewhere.

There are very few cast members that you could exactly say are full time, with that many, most of them go for long periods of time between appearances, with the exception of Gail,Norris & others who never seem to be off our screens, but people like Kirk, Graeme, Bill, Emily, Jason who are sort of there, but not really - but are not allowed to work elsewhere.
