Corrie producer confirms Underworld to be knocked down
Shock news in this morning is that Carla Connor will be given a standalone episode of Corrie which will explore her mental health breakdown. You can read more on that here.
And Coronation Street producer Iain MacLeod also confirms that Underworld will be knocked down!
With credit to Radio Times.
He said: “We’re knocking the factory down in March in a colossal big stunt. At first, it will appear to be an accident, but then it’ll be revealed to have been some kind of criminal enterprise that has caused the roof to fall in. Somebody will be dying in the collapse, but I’m not going to tell you who that is or who is responsible for pulling the roof down.”
“This is a community story – everyone is out of a job, so there’ll be lots of lifestyle and financial stories spinning out from this story. And it will eventually see the coronation of our next super villain. This is the beginning of the creation of the next iteration of the Corrie bad guy.”

It may be a stunt within a traumatic storyline but I say good riddance to the factory. It's a complete anomaly and the building and staff should have been transferred to something more realistic eg: a distribution centre. As for the new super-villain, might it be Nick in an attempt to make him fascinating?
Oh NO! Not another Super Villian and colossal big stunt
I do hope that it's Tracy Barlow.
It will be Chesney and Sinead - such a scary рair, yawn! :)
Another super-villain might just be the thing that causes me to stop watching. I thought that we were rid of that with the ending of the Pat Phelaqn brand of ridiculousness
Lynne from Canada -- Isn't that storyline similar to one that happened before? The factory was damaged and there was a body... No need to write scripts, let's recycle one.
