Phelan doesn't fit the category. 'Bad Boy', to my mind, means a youngish, roguish sort of villain. With respect, I'd class Phelan as a middle-aged villain. What's the category for that?! I never bought into Josh's character. He could have done with more swagger like Terry Duckworth. We didn't know much about Josh. They made the same mistake with Phelan with viewers only learning about his motivations late in the day. Perhaps Josh will recover and rehabilitate under Billy's guidance. I don't think Corrie has a proper bad boy at the moment.
I always thought Corrie missed a trick in revealing David’s tape storyline in advance of even Josh’s first appearance. It would have been far more dramatic had we not known he was a wrong’un from the off; if, like David, we’d got to rather like Josh, only to be shocked by his behaviour.
Clearly, that should have read ‘rape’ not ‘tape’. We haven’t had a tape storyline since Peter nicked Tracy’s old Bros cassette to give to Toyah for Christmas.
