Kevin Kennedy interview: "I'd love to return to Corrie!"

Kevin Kennedy, who played Curly Watts on Coronation Street for 20 years, was interviewed on ITV's Lorraine this week.

He says he hasn't been asked to return to the show but if they were to ask him he says he'd "love to" return. "Curly was such a multi-faceted character, I think he had lots of stories to tell and I think it'd be even more interesting if he came back with some tales to tell. He's linked in with so many of the older characters. Did he see Raquel again? Where's he been? What happened to his daughter and his son, Ben, all that sort of thing."

He also says that people recognise him as Curly still, and he loves it when people come and say hello.  He paid respect to Liz Dawn, who played Vera Duckworth, and says he keeps in touch with some members of the current cast too.

You can watch the whole interview here.

Aw, I would love Curly to come home to Coronation Street...more so than Jim MacDonald.

Auntie Andrea, I agree completely! I have always liked Curly and seeing Kevin interviewed he seems like a lovely man, and congratulations on his 20 year recovery!

Is he currently acting in anything? I ask because he seems to pop up every few months making the same wistful comments about returning.

Totally agree

But why? How would he fit in? Would he come to the street for a quick visit? Would he be coming home as the new regional manager for Costa? With another failed marriage? Ben issue(s)? If he’s just there to reminisce with Kevin, it could get dull pretty quickly. They can’t do another Dennis Tanner and waste a strong classic character again.

As far as Anon 01:49’s wistful comments, it could have been one passing nice comment blown up into a tabloid article.
