And here, below, in a nutshell, taken from Llifon's words, is Jenny Bradley's backstory and why Rita meeting Jenny on Corrie this coming week is something to be savoured...
Jenny joined Corrie in 1986 aged 14 as a Kabin papergirl. Rita took her in as foster daughter with Social Services and then fell for Jenny’s dad, Alan Bradley who tried to kill Rita and was run down by a Blackpool tram.
Jenny blamed Rita for Alan’s death, she moved to halls at Manchester Polytechnic, had a nervous breakdown and Rita helped her recover. Jenny bored of Uni life, met dentist Robert Weston, 12 years her senior, and left the street with Robert in 1991.
In 1993 she returned to Corrie without Robert. Rita was glad to have her back and ignored Alf Roberts' claims that Jenny was using her. Jenny discovered Robert had cleared their joint account and Rita offered her a loan.
Jenny wondered why Rita was still living above the Kabin when she owned Ted Sullivan’s house in Oakhill. She tried to persuade Rita to sell the flat and the pair of them move into Ted’s house. Rita realised then that Jenny was only after an inheritance.
Jenny asked Rita for £30,000 to set up a salon. Rita refused and told Jenny she wouldn’t get anything from her in her will. She wrote her a cheque for £1,000 and told her to get lost.
And that was the last we ever saw of Jenny Bradley until she turned up last week luring Kevin Webster to share a pudding..
Roll on Wednesday and let the Rita vs Jenny stand-off commence!
