Corrie war between Michelle vs Tracy
Finally, finally, I'm starting to have empathy with Michelle Connor on Coronation Street. Of course, it's because she's taken against Tracy (haven't we all?) and therefore Michelle is fighting Tracy for us so we don't have to get off our sofas and do it ourselves. And besides which, we're real people and Tracy's in the telly.
In the war between Michelle and Tracy, Michelle's become the back street voice of reason when it comes to looking after Ryan and trying to get him out of toxic Tracy's talons. But will anyone listen to Michelle?
Ryan's only gone and moved in at Sally's because Tracy didn't want him living with her at the Barlow's, although Ryan's too thick to notice Tracy didn't want him there. And he still doesn't realise that Tracy's only snogging him on the soft furnishings to wind up Steve.
Anyway, I'm loving this storyline and am fully on Michelle's side. A tweet I read this week from @Amanda13Jane also suggested the Michelle and Ryan mother and son dynamic was reminiscent of Elsie and Dennis Tanner back in the day.
With thanks to @fatbrenda on twitter for tweeting this wonderful pic of Michelle in her rollers from the Corrie salon catfight this week.

Hmmm, while I am certainly supporting Michelle through all of this, I can't say that I have been enjoying the storyline much. I have cringed through many of the scenes involving Tracy and Ryan and I am still struggling to come to terms with the rather awkward Michelle and Ryan (mother/son) relationship. On top of all of this, I'm still trying to understand how Ryan would have ever been attracted to someone like Tracy in the first place. Was it just to annoy his mother or is he really not that bright? Tracy's desperate attempts to win back Steve should have been nipped in the bud long ago and the writers' decision to bring her together with Ryan in order to make Steve jealous and annoy Michelle is all a little bit silly really. Mind you, if Michelle does eventually rub Tracy up the wrong way in the end, then I'm all for it I guess.
Well Tracy is a cow but she aint bad looking and Ryan is at that age. Thinks with what is in his pants and is far too much of a dummy to see that its plain Tracy is using him to get at Steve. What did Michelle look like in that bottom skimmmin skirt and high heels yesterday! Dead classy - not. She and Tracy are equal in the fishwife stake.
Neither of these characters are brilliantly drawn and, sorry, but neither of the actresses are that good. Michelle/Kym Marsh has the edge, though. As others have said, Tracy hasn't been developed since Amy's birth. What was fun to hate when the character was mid-20's is rather sad now she's 35. Lives with her parents, has a child, no proper job and her one aim in life is to get back with Steve. Of course, in real life, a 20 year old lad wouldn't look at her (except for the obvious). Margot, I think he's not that bright and has been duped by Tracy. Let Tracy find a rich man who will take her far away from the Street never to return.
Well, Ryan had to move in with Sally so he and Sophie could have a row leading him to run out of the house into the street with Sophie on his heels and that ever present speeding car mows Sophie down leaving her in the hospital (again) and leading up to Sally and Kevin finally getting back together where they belong.
I thought the salon scene was moronic IMO
I hate this storyline and i wouldn't even consider that michelle and Ryan's dynamic remotely resembles that of Dennis and Elsie. I am having a hard time buying into this because more and more i don't like the actor playing Ryan. He can't speak clearly and i can't understand a word he says. Never liked Michelle over much and Tracy is a one note character.
It's just panto. The trouble is nowadays that a good, well acted story like Tyrone/Kirsty just shows up the others (surrogacy/Tracy, Michelle, Ryan) for the nonsense that they are.
Have to agree that I'm not buying the mother/son dynamic between Michelle and Ryan at all. In fact, I'm secretly praying for the day she tells him he's not really her kid and she loved her real son better! The actor seems mis-cast comparesed to the original development of this character and the relocation to Sally's seems little more than setting up the alleged car-crash, drug addiction storylines for Sophie. Sure, we often see contrived set-ups but this one's just to flat to overlook.
Yep, the only saving grace for this is Michelle getting at Tracy. I think they really missed the boat when choosing the actor playing Ryan, though the younger one wasn't much better. He's way too old a replacement, and better suited for that other soap, where acting is not required.
Was disappointed by the big catfight. A bit of shoving. They should have grabbed each other by the rollers!
