So, what do you think of Gloria Price so far?

While I'm loving the recent addition to Coronation Street of Sue Johnston as Gloria Price, comments left here on the Coronation Street Blog and on our facebook page show that other fans don't feel the same.

For this fan, Gloria is a breath of fresh air. She's a flirt, she's funny, rude and forthright, she's clearly got a past that she's not afraid to airbrush to suit her needs. And in her interaction with Gail, we know she's got a soft and vulnerable side too - all the makings of a classic Corrie matriach.

I think Gloria's great. But what you reckon to Gloria Price on Corrie so far? Is she your Golden Glow or do you think she should go?

Sorry, I really do not like her. She is definitely rude, and not in a humorous way. She's just unpleasant and sneaky. A shame, because Sue Johnston is a talented actress. Why can't they introduce a new character who is actually likeable?

I like her too so far. In Canada we've just seen her interact with Gail and Gail revealed her past as gleaned from Cliff. I'd like to see her and Gail be friends.

Characters who are over the top when they are introduced are invariably softened over time. This is one of the golden rules of soap opera. I have no doubt Sue Johnston will be a huge asset to Corrie once her character has settled in.

It depends how long Sue Johnston is going to be around. If it's long-term, then there's time for the character to develop. I like her forthrightness and think she could develop into a quirky addition - definitely not a matriach in the Audrey mould. The problem so far is that we haven't seen any heart-to-hearts with Stella. It's all pretty much been sitcom material. What effect did Gloria's fickle behaviour have on Stella when she was growing up? Did Stella walk out on Leanne because she had no role model from her own mother? Deep stuff, maybe, but it gives the characters more depth. I was one of those posters who said 'It's early days', but in soapland terms, Gloria has now been with us quite a while. The writing is very patchy at the moment and Gloria hasn't been given the quality that the actress can deliver.

I think she's great. Maybe the deep and meaningful stuff will eventuate, but at the moment I'm just enjoying being made to laugh.

If the producer would quit trying to replace Blanche with another loud-mouthed old lady we might have a chance to like her character but, they bring them on like gangbusters and it's just annoying. I do like Gloria though and think the actress is great...just tone her down a bit and maybe move Stella out of the way a bit?

I think Gloria's great. I love the fantasy world she seems to be living in and anybody that winds up Stella as much as she does is welcome in my book.

I don't like her. She's incredibly rude, even to people she's met for the first time.

I don't like people who are so in-your-face. Her total lack of respect for others is appalling. I don't like Stella much, but if I were her and I tell someone to mind their own business and they continue to disrespect me - they're gone.

She's a steamroller with no regard for anyone else. I avoid those people in real life, so I'm not likely to take to someone like that on a soap.

And there's NO ONE who can ever replace Blanche; so if that's what the writers are attempting - it ain't workin'.

I like her; she's mellow. Absolutely true that it's been
70's sit-com writing so far, but I've no doubt they'll develop the deeper vein before too long. I've a horrible feeling the PTB may be pushing the comedy as a way of trying to make Stella more popular - if so, then yet another misfire. But no one doubts Sue is a first rate actress and, as she's sold her London home and moved to Manchester, she certainly looks to be around for a long time to come, during which I predict she'll soften and will become adored by many who dislike her now. There was a time, back when she was first introduced, when the viewers loathed Hilda Ogden, and look what happened there.

I love Sue Johnston as an actress, and while Gloria has been a bit OTT and aggravating so far, I liked the tender moment when Gail found her out but maneuvered her back to the Rovers instead of outing her, hopefully they'll become friends and a slightly softer side can begin to show.

Why do people insist they're trying to replace Blanche! What.......rules state there must only be one sharp tongued biddy per program?? Over the years this show has been riddled with them and I'm sure it will continue to be.....well I hope so anyway.

Anybody that gives St Ella more air time is a no- no in my book! The more we see of Gloria sadly we have more Stella. Sue Johnson is a terrific actress and whilst I don't think she's made a very good impression in this role so far I agree with Humpty Dumpty the writing given her to date has been very patchy and acting across from Michelle Collins is a bit like a plank, she's not getting much back, so there's not much to go on so far.
I did like Cliff however and I think that the two of them together would be comic gold. Shame that Cliff's visit was only fleeting and he makes it back one day. It was nice to see a comic male character that was actually funny without scoffing his face like the idiotic Brian.

I agree with the last poster - Cliff was great! Don't like Gloria at all though, as the chemistry doesn't seem right between her and Stella (though it does between Eva and Stella and Eva and Gloria). I also have to say that I LIKE Stella.

Gloria could be the one to put Tracy in her place.....I'm waiting for that! Great scenes with Gloria and Gail and the sense they might become good friends. I'm giving Gloria the OK for now. Agree Cliff should be brought back and their story explored.

I agree that her softened side with Gail needs to be explored more, it would be nice to see those two become friends. Gloria deffo needs to be reeled in a bit.

I would love to see her butt heads with Sylvia.

No dont like Gloria at all, too forced and just seems like an actor in the role rather than a real character. Rude and annoying and with scant respect for others and their feelings, I am amazed that people find this type of character "amusing". Just means more scenes with the ghastly Bland Stella. I just find that little frisson of irritation when she comes on screen so a No from me.

Absolutely agree with previous comment. Find the character of Gloria so 'unfunny' and completely way, way over the top irritating that it is putting me off Coronation Street. If you producers are seeking a Blanche replacement - much prefer Roy's mum Sylvia (Stephanie Cole) who does it a whole lot better with non of the grating irritation. There is room for much greater development of Sylvia's character and clashes with the likes of Norris and Mary. Please, please bring back Sylvia and get rid of Gloria!
