Coronation Street producer Phil Collinson has promised big storylines for Carla Connor this summer when he revealed his Corrie summer spoilers and you can read them all here.
Today, the Daily Star spills the beans on what that big Carla storyline will be, for those who haven't already seen it coming and in typical build-a-strong-woman-up then knock-her-about-a-bit way that soaps have (and this fan hates, especially in Corrie), Carla Connor is going to be attacked by Frank Foster. A Corrie insider tells the paper: “This is going to be the start of a very dark storyline for her and fans will be shocked at just how twisted Frank really is. He’s a real nasty piece of work and Carla is going to be at his mercy for some time to come. The warning signs were there but Carla ignores them as she’s always been able to handle herself in the past. We’re going to see a very different side of Carla over the coming months when she’s going to be at her most vulnerable. She’s going to end up suffering terribly and the scenes will be some of the most violent ever seen on the cobbles.”

"Most violent"? Hm they said that about the attempted rape of Maria as wellnand it turned out to be no more than a fumble. As long as Carla isnt still trying to use married Peter Barlow as her emotional crutch this time, this could be quite good. I do find it hard to have any sympathy with Carla, the way she treats people for example Trevor who was there for her throughout the whole Tony Gordon/shooting debacle and she repaid him by treating him like something she stepped in.
And now Carla is going to be ruined. :(
I really like Carla, this will be horrible! Yet i'm excited to see how it all plays out, and Ali King is brilliant.
Frank belongs to that troupe of male characters in Corrie who sort things out with their fists - Karl has probably got something lined up, too. But I think the best villains have always been the ones who have played brain games like Charlie, Alan Bradley etc.
If the violence is after the watershed, no doubt they'll have a Help Line number after the programme. So that's alright then.
Does the Daily Star not realise that this is old news? This storyline was leaked weeks ago.
Time will tell whether the show manages to pull the storyline off well or not.
The most violent scenes ever. Great. I can't wait.
It's never as dramatic as they make it out to be, though is it? Yes i agree, the men that played mind games were far more interesting to watch and you could see how they wore down their victims with more subtlety than with violence. I guess since they've reformed Chris Gray and the Grays are now leaving, we'll have that domestic violence with this couple instead.
Who didnt see this coming. Why is it a lot of men that come into the street are evil and dodgy? Over the past few years, we have had John Stape, Tony Gordon, Paul Connor, etc. And how many male bosses has that factory had in the past few years who ended up being evil or getting killed? Underworld is cursed.
I would prefer a Mike Baldwin character or some lovable rogue, characters that used to make Corrie great, not everyone being evil or dodgy. And I hope it doesnt turn into some domestic abuse storyline, we get enough of that. Not all men are evil and abusive.
How depraved is Corrie going to go? Used to be you could have the whole family watch and it was OK but not now...too much violence, sex and violent sex all the time.I also will not buy into Carla putting up with someone who was abusing her..it's usually the other way around. Rubbish storyline.
I suspect the long-running problem for Carla isn't going to be that he carries on abusing her, but that he has bought into the factory - he's not going to be easy to get rid of, especially if she can't bring herself to press charges or if those charges don't stick.
I want Carla with Danny Baldwin! They'd be a great pairing
so why wouldnt she just go to the police and say that maria connor was right all along when she accused him of rape?
unless its to do with losing the business-she seems so obsessed with it maybe she would let anything go
poor carla.
But bet it will be coronaton streets best acting with alison king.
