The always wonderful Inside Soap magazine confirms today that former Hollyoaks actor Tony Hirst has been cast as Eileen Grimshaw's new hunky fireman fella, Paul.
Eagle-eyed Coronation Street fans will recognise the actor as he's already been in Corrie when he appeared as one of the firefighters in the live 50th anniversary episode.

Cast as what? Her son? (Yet another recycled soap star).
Here's hoping he's: employed, not a criminal, straight (because she is), not a momma's boy, addiction free, kind, not likely to hit on (or kidnap) Rosie, tall enough to stare down Owen and let Eileen wear heels, and gets on with Steve & Lloyd. Bonus if he rescues Emily from the cupboard.
It would be interesting if they still had him be the fireman who was there that night it would be interesting to see his reaction to everyone.
Yes scifiaddict, i think that's a great tie-in if he's one of the same firemen from that night. Oooh, Paul you say? I bet he is, the fireman that was primary in Molly's rescue attempt was Paul, i remember him telling her that.
Two words loveys: As if!
He wouldn't look twice at her!
She gets on me flamin' wick!
I think he is playing the very same fireman :D It's a great little link :D
Really? Seriously, really?
I totally agree with Fat Brenda, he wouldn't look twice at Eileen. He's far too young & good looking for her.
Paul Clayton...Paul Connor...and now another Paul!
Not sure about Eileen's supposed age in Corrie but in real life ages she's 2yrs older than him, basically not enough difference to matter once you're out of your teens.
I like Eileen and I reckon she deserves a bit o' luck on the man front....just hope he treats her right and it doesn't end up as yet another ho hum storyline about abuse or cheating. Fwoah.....way to go Eileen, he's a bit of alright :o)
You wouldn't think that if you had to work with her like I used to! She was a cruel woman! Never bought the biscuits but always ate 'em!
Why does Eileen need a man? I'd like to see her back at the Cabby's..3 way partership with Lloyd and Steve..they were great together ... the banter and jibes back and forth-loved it.I don't think she fits in at the faktry and seems to be relegated to one-line put-downs..that's it. Also..I'd like to see her show Sean and crew the door..they've just taken over and really seem to be very boring right now IMO. I can't really see Violet, who was so against Sean even seeing his kid, suddenly just hands him over while she goes through this never ending illness. We're really supposed to think she's that sick? I'll bet we'll see a custody fight over Dylan not far down the road.
Sorry have to agree AS IF! Eileen is a middle aged moaner. I expect he will just turn out to be one in a long line of losers like the rest. Same old same old
As much as I like Eileen - he seems a bit out of her league. Let's hope she finds happiness she deserves it!
Corrie should bottle the receipe that they have, young fit guys fall for unattractive middle aged women with lived in faces. They could make millions!
I used to enjoy it when Eileen and Gail had a go at each other. Now, you don't see those two at it that much. What we need is for those two and their families to go on a holiday all at the same time. Without realising that both families are at the same caravan site, they suddenly bump into each other where Gail accuses Eileen of spying on her and vice versa. Things get out of hand and they explode with each other. Next day, Gail and her family once again bump into Eileen and her family down by the duck pond. They argue again, and Eileen tells Gail that she is more QUACKERS than those ducks over there. After more arguements, Gail pushes Eileen into the pond and cries in a relaxed mood: 'Well, I think it's time for us to get back to our caravan as I think I felt rain'. 'Mother' (cries David staring at Gail)! 'You're all wet with pushing Eileen in the pond.' 'Well then, it's just a pity that I didn't bring my brolley' cries Gail. 'Well Mother, that wouldn't protect you much from being splashed' cries David . . . @No David, I didn't mean for that reason, i meant so I could have bashed Eileen over the head with it' replies Gail.
